Song

First of alI i have never rated Alex Song, i am delighted that he is gone, so this isn't me being bitter about his departure, i have been consistant with my views on him. The guy has been a massive flaw in our team as a dm which was his job lets not forget. Ok, so people will argue this by saying that he assisted Rvp a lot which was true but his original job was to break up attacks, protect the back 4 and he failed by leaving us exposed by pushing on to much and we'd get punished on the counter.

I have never understood why a few of you have rated him, he's strong and stocky but he's also clumsy and lazy, slow and apparently his attitude stunk going by reports. Sahin will be a big improvement imo and even coquelin can do the defensive role, so it's no major loss and I think we have done barca here.

"I hate it when other Arsenal fans say Coquelin could do a better job; he was one of the main reason we were hammered 8-2 against Manchester United. I've never seen a midfield be so overrun as we were that day."

WTF? We conceded FIVE goals after Coquelin went off. FIVE goals in about 25 minutes. But yes it did annoy me seeing people say Coquelin is better than Song, Song is a good player and was a very important player for us. But he will flop at Barca IMO, unless they are planning to play him as a CB.

Hello, you should probably know that 5 of the goals were conceded after Coquelin got subbed off around 60 mins.

My apologies (to you and Batmanu). I remember him getting substituted for Chamberlain late on in the game and I presumed it to be around the 75th minute when we were 5/6 goals down.

Still can't believe Barca bought him!

I agree with your point about people saying Coq is ahead of Song, it's too early for that. I did think this would be his breakthrough year though but now our midfield looks loaded I'm not sure he'll get many chances. I just prefer his style to Song's and I think it will suit our team better.

Coquelin was probably the only player on the day who could come out with his head held high. Ramsey and in particular Rosicky were dreadful on the day in midfield, when Coquelin came off we fell apart.

I think the thing with Coquelin is that he is disciplined and doesn't leave gaps behind him like Song did, he is also quicker than Song and has pace to recover from his errors. But Song had far more ability than him, the problem being that some people still believe we play with holding midfielders when Wenger has said on numerous occasions that we don't. I wouldn't be surprised to see Sahin partnering Arteta for the rest of the season despite neither being holding players.

Good point this Batmanu. Something that I, and I believe, many others of us, would be looking forward to see.
