First off I'm delighted with the business we have done so far. Downing isnt exciting some fans but I think he is a really good signing who will help get the best out of Carroll.
However after reading Commoli's interview on the website im slightly worried that we may be done for the summer. He said something along the lines of "we have carried out the business we wanted to."
Now I'm not tryin to be greedy but I really do fell we need some sort of investment in our defence. Whether its a left back or a centre half is up to Kenny and co but we need something. At the end of last season we saw how thin we are in defence when we picked up a few injuries. Agger and Aurelio cant be trusted to maintain fitness for a full season and the ypoungsters, as good as they look, are not the players we should be expecting to come in and play every game.
How do others feel? do you think we could be finished as far as players coming in are concerned? And if so do you feel confident about breaking into the top 4 next year?
anymore coming in?

No idea how good this Cissokho is, but willing to trust Kenny. If he likes him, I like him...

babel i for one would be more then happy with that but what about Vargas he is 27 and plays LB but can push up if needed and Villa want him so if they can get him why can we ok they have money now but im sure kk has not spent the budget with out buying a LB

I cant belive Newcastle are holding out for £15m. Its crazy money. Thats more than clichy went for. I cant see us or arsenal paying that so they will end up losing him for nothing next year. I think a £10m bid and if they say no then we look elsewhere.
I really dont know much about cissokho so cant really comment on him but if he came in I'd be happy that we finally had a left back that could be trusted to play 80-90% of our games. We havnt really had a settled lb since Riise left.
If only aurelio could just stay fit, I think he's a really really good left back.

Kenny tried to sign Phil Jones and Gael Clichy so he must be aware we need players in their positions. Just becausewe didnt get our first choice targets I cant see him not signing anyone

Yeah, that's what I'm hoping - but we've been missing a LB for years, we've all been banging on about it, but year in year out we just 'make do'. Hope I'm wrong and someone comes in... TBF Enrique is well overpriced at that figure, but that's not stopped us assembling the players Kenny wants so far...

I think we might actually be ok for LB. Cos if u look at what we have (in likely order of preference), its Aurelio, then Insua who are both natural LB's n as back up, we have Robbo (I think) n even Johnson has played there but he's not a natural LB n he's not very defensive either. So if KK were to not invest in another LB, I would imagine these are the players he's got in mind for that area?

Mind you Everton are in a hell of a mess these days.
If we want a great LB then push the boat out.
We've already paid a premium for Henderson and now Downing so why stop there?
Cash + player exchange is the way to go.
Everton will need a LB replacement, fine Insua.
Now offer them N'gog (would complement Beckford really well ).
I'd be willing to offer them Soto & Jovanovic as well.
So that's Insua, N'gog, Soto & Jovanovic + £10 million.
Surely we'd get Baines then?

I know they might be classed as "rejects" but the whole package I've put together there is worth £20m.
If the players didn't work out for Everton then at least they've got the opportunity to move them on plus cash in their back pockets to dabble in he transfer market.
