Take wage rises into account, ....

Wow if we transfer out that many players to help balance the wages in a few years it'll just be AVB sitting on the bench willing the ball in the goal

RDBD.....

Past financial years are not relevant. We have money in our accounts for players. Like I say, we don't have to break even every season in the transfer market and rarely do....and even if you do we have spent about £10m net in the last 4 years, which is nothing Some small teams have spent more than us on average over the last 5 seasons....WBA WHU Villa Stoke QPR Fulham.

Either our accounts are hiding something, or we are saving up for something, or we are trying to make ourselves attractive to a buyer/investor/massive sponsor, or we are amounting a pot of cash to blow on quality players top project us upwards.

Our squad is small and when you remove the fringe like Jenas, Bentley, GDS, Rose, Townsend then we have very little quality backup anywhere other than in defence.

Why would Levy sack Redknapp who was doing decent, and bring in a new dawn with the bright young thing AVB and then sanction the sale of Modric and leave AVB with a much smaller and weaker squad than before.

Top 4 is the aim, even Levy knows we cannot make it there with the squad we have now. We need 2 strikers, backup in wide areas and a nailed on quality replacement for Modric.

Take wage rises into account, and players we've lost on and i'm sure it balances out.. the last accounts showed that. We need the Modric money to move.

Look at that list of players out......Crouch, Woodgate, King, Pav, Hutton Keane....that is probably the best part of £350-£400k a week saved and not replaced.

It was true that our CL season we have an oversized squad and wages were much higher but with the players we have lost we have probably trimmed that wages bill by £30m plus, well back down to pre-CL season levels.

Fact is players need replacing. Our squad is nothing. Levy must be going mad if he thinks this squad can compete.

We've bidded for many players and lost out.

Oscar - He chose Chelsea
Soldado - Rejected us
Ramirez - Too much wages
Leandro - They want too much
Adebayor - High wages
Moutinho - They want too much

All players we've gone for that I can remember, so you can't say we've got no money.

oneshareholder :

Also factor the PL "homegrown" , under 21s etc rules into your considerations.

Agreed oneshareholder, remember we've got Fryers to join up with the squad once the tribunal's set a fee.. we're well stocked at the back
