Can someone please clarify this for me?

Now that RVP has gone, does Wayne Bridge, currently at Championship side Brighton & Hove Albion, currently earn more than any player on our books?
[with our team having been a Champions League team for the last 15 years and the third most successful English club in terms of league titles]

I was under the impression that he was on wages of Β£100k a week, which, if true, must really get under the skin of Brighton's other players. They must feel like the MLS guys who get paid peanuts to play alongside Becks at LA Galaxy. What the hell is going on with the money in football?!

Bridge being on £100k a week at Brighton? Can't see that.

Never! It's become appropriate now that Nasri's gone bad and eaten all the oysters.

I'm sure Man City are still paying it all. But if he was on the £100k that was rumoured, wouldn't they still have to pay him it, like the Adebayor situation?

City are subsidising Adebayor's wages as well, aren't they?

Must be nice to have so much money you can pay people who don't even work for you

They've also got Roque Santa Cruz on their books, haven't they?!

Looks like this FFP will mean feck all, after all!

I'm just thinking what it must be like for all the youth players at places like Brighton who are desperate just to get a professional contract, and then they see the likes of Bridge turn up to training in a ridiculous car, on ridiculous wages. Every young player must be thinking

I've got to get an agent who can get me to sign for City. Cos even if I don't make it, I'll be able to go out on loan and be a big fish in a small league, earning a fortune to effectively do the same job as a player who costs 1/100th the amount.

As fans we often wonder why the likes of Rodwell and Sinclair and SWP would want to go to City when it's pretty clear they are unlikely to play first team football. But I guess in the end they'll get first team football for someone else and City will still pay them big money.

These guys are generally below the age of 25 with less education than most people

They might not care as much about the money as we think but the leeches that 'advise' them do

An agent and taxman take a percentage of your earnings while solicitors like darren dein will take a cut from any deals they help you negotiate.

These people are business and money oriented so will want the more lucrative deal in 99% of situations.
