The Summer of Punk Rebooked (Part 2)

...................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

---------------------Raw, August 1st 2011--------------------------
Away from the arena, court is in session today. Vince is represented by his legal team; Punk is being represented by David Otunga, without Punk being present (we don’t get to see him just yet). And throughout Raw we get little glimpses of the courtroom in a bit of a skit-like manner. Until well into the second hour of the show where we get a three to four minute segment where a verdict has been reached. With both parties being liberal in some fashion, a compromise is struck that CM Punk must defend the championship on WWE broadcast on August 14th (i.e. Summer Slam) in a one-on-one match against a WWE official. Should WWE’s designated hitter win, the WWE win back the rights to their belt and it’s branding. If Punk wins, he has no legal obligation to re-sign with WWE and is free to defend the championship in another organisation.

The designated hitter is COO Triple H, he comes out for the final action of the night, cuts a promo about the match and CM Punk. Episode ends, Summer Slam main event announced.

---------------------Raw, August 8th 2011-----------------
An episode heavy on promoting the Christian vs. Orton and Cena matches at Summer Slam, Punk vs. HHH rarely gets a mention and neither make an appearance. After fighting in the main event, Cena suffers internal injuries at the hands of the returning Kevin Nash who claims Vince’s bounty and is announced as his Summer Slam opponent in a NO-DQ with Vince at ringside. If Nash wins, along with the bounty, he gets a contract.

John Cena vs. Kevin Nash (No DQ w/Vince at ringside)
Pretty much what you’d expect from these two, but the vibe from this match has to be coming out of identifying with Cena who comes into this match severely injured already. Similar to Cena’s matches with Lesnar & Orton in the past, he has to sell the beating and Nash needs to sell the punishment. Would get an interesting reaction from the crowd as many would be cheering on Cena to predictably overcome the odds just because his opponents the battle worn Kevin Nash who get a WWE contract if he wins. After 7/8 minutes of this, Nash pins Cena. Nash has a contract; he’s available for the future feuds with HHH & Punk through the autumn.

HHH vs. CM Punk for the WWE Championship
For Punk’s entrance, the Nexus form a guard of honour as he appears on television for the first time since Money in the Bank, noticeably not wearing company merchandise nor having a titantron. Match goes at a methodical pace allowing the crowd to make it a spectacle. Punk wins clean in the eyes of the referee despite clever outside inference from Colt Cabana and MITB holder Daniel Bryan. All three men plus the Nexus celebrate in the ring before Vince calls security to chase them into the crowd in different directions. Far as it looks, CM Punk has won and the belt is lost.
