Cheers Wassa

I respect his wishes in this very sad situation, but it is hard for admirers and fans of Steve to understand why, after the club stood by him during his injuries, that he cannot reciprocate and continue to perform for Derby, a club which has obviously respected him and treated him well. If, as seemed very likely on last season's form, he could have contributed 20 or so goals then Derby's fortunes, and Nigel's team building would have seemed assured. As it is we are left with a feeling that all that was created has been destroyed.

It seems inexplicable and the vacuum created has attracted its own inevitable conclusions.

Injury prone and lazy

Thanks Wassa. Some clarity at last.

Bit harsh Marco. Getting a fractured skull is hardly injury prone. I don't think he's lazy either. Lethargic perhaps, a bit like Andy Garner was as a player. Always looks knackered.

I dont seem to remember Celtic fans being critical of Martin O'Neill when he quit Celtic..

..Derby fans are pathetic sometimes. Getting so involved in a witch hunt that they dont see what's actually going on.

People defend Nigel Clough for being a family man first, football manager second. Which is admirable, but this situation is no different.

Did anybody see what he retweeted on twitter?

@stevedavies2410 good luck , will be nice to play for a manager who not nil & void of tactics ,

He had to quickly apologise and claim it was only a joke.

I genuinely hope that whatever it is that meant he had to leave is now sorted with his move and I wish him all the best for his future.

I won't speculate on it, but it's easy to comprehend the frustration that fans will feel that it could only be sorted with a move away from Derby and why they would want to understand what it was, even if it means they can then just say "Ah, fair enough and good luck".

I'm sure we all wanted him to be a success for some time more here and now he won't or can't be. That doesn't mean anyone has the right to have a go or anything but the frustration is understandable in the seemingly very unfortunate circumstances (whatever they are).

TCR Steve Davies already explained about that. What he did was copy and paste what a fan had said to him and re-tweeted it, he then took it off, and fans got confused thinking he had done it.
I hope that clarifies that
