Same Old Martin!

Villa fan in peace, congratulations on the signing of Mr Fletcher (!)

I have to say it does not surprise me that Martin has paid over the odds. £14m is a huge amount of money on a player who did "ok" in the premier last season.

Whilst at Villa, Martin did pay far too much on average players (Curtis Davies £10m, Carlos Cuellar £8m, Stephen Warnock £4m, need i go on......)

He even paid £4m for Marlon Harewood!!!!

He left a complete mess which we are still reeling at. It looks like old habits die hard.

£14m for Fletcher is more than double what he's worth. It's the same with West Ham paying £10m for Jarvis.
Wolves must be thinking that relegation is not such a financial burden after all!

Pardon my intrusion, but my question is not about the player's worth, it's more about values.

According to the Daily Telegraph, the average salary in the U.K. is £26,000 - Fletcher has just been bought for £14 million. If you put this into your Jewish Piano, you'll find that Sunderland have just paid the equivalent of 538 average working mens' salaries for a good, but not especially gifted player.

Is the plot lost, or are we still losing it?

Chunders.

Nice to see fans from differing clubs taking an interest in this...As a Sunderland fan, I'm very happy with team that MON is busy assembling..Happy days..

Think Fletcher is a great player. He will do well for the mackems especially as they will not be fighting relegation like all of his previous clubs where he has scored goals. The fee is £12 plus add ons. so, in today's market £12m is cheap when you compare it to other over inflated EPL prices. £20m Jordan Henderson, £35m Carrol, £15m Downing, none of which are worth antyhting near the prices payed for them. As for the bitter Villa fans, i can only imagine they would give there right arms to have a MON season again, regrdless of how much he spent?

A fortune spent on these two when you could have had Richard Cresswell and Nick Montgomery for free

A good season with a better team and he will fully justify his price tag. Very underrated player.

Yes, he's a 'proper' centre forward, that has great potential in a decent team . . . . which I think he's a part of now

Aye, he's a complete waste of £12m isn't he

Get rid of him before it's too late . . . . and he scores too many goals
