The 19-year-old, whose contract with the Red Devils expired in June, made his senior debut for Sir Alex Ferguson's side last September in a Carling Cup tie and went on to make a further five appearances.
"We spotted Ezekiel two years ago at an elite tournament where England and Belgium participated," sporting director Jean-Francois de Sart told the club's website standard.be.
"We have followed him since. He was out of contract with Manchester United and it was a great opportunity we could not miss."
Seems like a bit of a strange transfer to me, he could of signed a new contract with United and even gone on loan to Standard Liege if he wanted

He's moved to Liege on a two year deal however Spurs apparently have an agreement with them that after the two years are up, they have the option to buy.

Expect him to make a move to the prem as this side step move simply avoids prem to prem club big compensation. Would be win win for Liege and the prem club they may have agreed this with.
No way he'd just suddenly go to Liege on a 2 year contract without a plan.

Spurs might not even need him in 2 years though Pea? A lot can change over that amount of time.

Oh I agree, that's sort of my pt. Bet some plan has been agreed already. Also he may not stay 2 years, that's just the max contract length. May go after one season or even 5 minutes Bebe style.

This is all a plan to avoid the fee for Spurs. Spurs have good links with Standard Liege and in all honesty you can't blame them for pulling a fast one. Personally I think it's a bit underhand but really Fryers should have shown some loyalty to United. By all accounts we wanted him to stay but then on top of that he pays us back by being part of this scheme to do us out of a transfer fee. Bloody sickening how manipulative and greedy these advisors of these players are.

6m for a teenager that's barely played first team football is greedy. Far from ruining his own career it sounds like Fergie was determined to sabotage it after he didn't turn up for pre-season. Badly advised or not, that's a nasty thing to do to a kid.

Bale's left foot, these things always go to tribunals and end up much less than the asking clubs fee (I think at most it would have ended up being between 1 to 2million at most). If anything Fergie is looking out for United (fee) than sabotage a player's career. If It was any other club with United taking the player most fans of other teams will be slating United for not paying the 6 million.
Personally, I don't have a problem with what Spurs 'seemed' to have done. But if it really is what we assume it is, then Spurs fans cannot ever complain about how our clubs handles transfers.

We had to pay 2million in compo for David Bellion, we were proper ripped off there.

What a brainless moron. He got a decent amount of game time last season, which would only have increased this year.
My guess is once he didn't accept a deal, didn't turn up for training and didn't let the club know his plans Fergie washed his hands of him.
Looks a solid full back, shame.
