After watching the Sky sports news interview with AVB earlier today, it seems AVB is happy with our current strike force of Adebayor, Defoe and Kane and doubts we will be adding to this. A few weeks ago he said he was perfectly happy with the goalkeepers we have - Friedel, Gomes and Cudicini and the emergence of young David Button. Depending on the Dawson situation he is happy to have 4 or 5 centre backs and im sure he is happy with Walker, Ekkotto, Naughton and Maybe Rose at full back. He has stated in an earlier interview that we would be looking to Replace Modric if he leaves and has ruled out speculation linking us with M'vila as he is a defensive midfielder and that we have enough options there. When asked today about our interest in Willian he said that he tried to sign him in the past and admires the player greatly but as he is still a Shaktar Donetsk player he didnt want to divulge if we were signing him. He didnt rule it out so id be very suprised if he's not a spurs player by next week. So this leaves us to who the replacement for modric will be. Names in the frame are Pranjic, Mouthino (although unlikely as avb has already stated he will be too expensive) and Dembele from Fulham. If we ended up with Willian and Dembele i would be delighted. What do you guys think?

I won't be delighted unless we sign another striker. Last season we had Pav playing in the Europa and he was clearly a class above Kane. We won't win a trophy with two good strikers and an average kid.
Willian from what I've heard is a talented, versatile midfielder.. Dembele plays in the same position as VDV and Sigs.. luxury signing unless we sell Rafa.
My order of preference would be: striker, Modric replacement, winger, keeper.

That's a big paragraph.
Our strike force isn't to bad.
Defoe, VDV
Ade, VDV
Defoe, Sig,
Ade, Sig
Defoe, Ade
We could do with another striker, but a MF playmaker is more important IMO.

He's hedging his bets.
If we don't sign someone, it'll be him saying " I stated we wouldn't sign someone"
If we sign someone; he'll seem like a manthat can play his cards close to his chest.
Either way, I love how diplomatic he has been so far.
Much respect AVB

When at Chelsea AVB would deny interest in a player if there was some, which i think is fair enough, i don't see why a club should tell the media every thing they are doing.
Anyway my point is that he could be far more active seeking players than he is letting on and i would ignore what he said about Moutinho because if Modric goes at the right price I would not rule out you going for him.

The bottom line is that AVB, unlike Harry does not let all and sundry know the club's business before deals are concluded. Redknapp was a bit too chummy with the media for my liking, as though he always felt he owed them a titbit every day..
The AVB way in my book is the way to go about it,keep stum as long as possible, it would not surprise me to see two significant signings before next Friday......................
