What's the news on Mackay-Steven ?

Palace fans were big admirers of Vaughan, scored a hat-trick on his debut and 10 for the season, not bad at all in a team which struggled that season. His main strengths are his quick feet, pace and power, so he could definitely play the role Novak is currently flopping in.

Oh, as for "saying we would get a striker", everyone knew we were in the market for a striker. And as for Johnny Russell, not a chance, we're keen on Church but we're one of many teams who are interested.

"All we know are the facts, ma'am.” – Sergeant Joe Friday, ‘Dragnet’.

I’m sure you are aware, as well as anybody that the current system (or lack of it) at Town is not exactly designed to supply any strikers, whoever they might be, with the ammunition they need. If things don’t change, they’ll stay as they are.

Hopefully, after Denton, Eccleston, Garner, Jutkiewicz, Lee, Robinson, Simpson, and Téhoué, the law of averages might come into play.

I liked Cadamarteri, He would have loved to have played in a front 3, If he would have stayed fit and on the straight and narrow, He would have been good, Vaughn, And what i know of him, Reminds of Cads, Decent but injury prone.

Captain Dubbin

If you are giving us 'the facts' could you let us know how many of Church's appearances were starts?

McDermott played him from the bench most of last season bringing him on for the last 5 when Roberts was spent. I believe it was similar in prior seasons.

Based on his time on the pitch I believe he has a decent strike record - enough to warrant international call up (albeit Wales) but I'm prepared to concede I'm wrong if you can show to the contrary

This managerial 'Sweet Shop' that Hoyle has provided seems to be producing 'clones' !

The 'septic tanks' have Bush..Obama, = different face, same song sheet.

There was Bliar/G Clown..CaMoron = The Wrecking crew.

we have Clark, Grayson , =spend spend spend.
& still we have an ineffective mid field, with a lone striker up front .
hmmm.

BT…

All I stated was the number of ‘appearances’, and the number of ‘goals. They are factual events, to the extent that the player was on the field, and he scored a goal.

I did credit Wikipedia, knowing that these ‘facts’ can vary from source to source.

You refer to “...most of last season...” which is rather vague.

Again, according to Wikipedia, Simon Church made 32 appearances in that campaign, and scored 7 goals.

By the process of subtraction we are then left with 130 appearances and 21 goals, for the rest of his career.

As far as international representation is concerned, Alan Smith played 19 times for England, supposedly as a striker. His career record is 67 goals in 422 games... according to Wikipedia of course.

I have no axe to grind, but I do list a number of so-called ‘strikers’ who came to play for Town, and flopped like mops.

Also, I remember players such as Greaves, Law, Lineker, Lofthouse, Mortensen, Shearer and Ian Wright, all of whom averaged better than a goal every two games, playing in the top flight. Brian Clough’s goal per game average, albeit not in the top tier, was 0.92... in an era when ‘offside’ meant offside, and tackles were allowed from any angle, providing the tackler got the ball.

Makes you think!

Strikers who came to Town and "flopped like mops" yet you list Theo Robinson who had a goals per game ratio most strikers would kill for...
