Why is contador so slow this year ?
Is it more likely that he had an unfair advantage i previous years, or is it likely that he is at an unfair disadvantage this year ? or is there some other explanation ?

Firstly it is difficult to pull of a Giro-Tour double these days as they make the Giro really hard and this years was no exception. Contador caned it and totally dominated it. Promise you that none of the GC riders present on today stage could have stayed with him. But it takes times to ride it out the legs so therefore his form isn't the best anyway. On top of that he has crashed a number of times and his likely still a little sore.
He said at the end though that he is feeling better each day and today was a marked improvement on only two days ago. Winning the tour might be hard for him now but if after an easy stage tomorrow by comparison and a rest day he gets his legs back expect fireworks in the final week. The Schlecks have attacked a well below par Contador and taking a few seconds. If he gets form expect him to do what he did to the field in the Giro and decimate it.
