Out of favour at Chelsea and struggled with injuries of late.
However could he do a defensive job for us?
Some players need a change of scenery to kick start a players form and fortunes...
On his day he is formidable. At one stage he was easily the best defensive midfielder in the league and could recapture some of that form.
Thoughts?
Essien on loan?

So I'm on this thread thinking loads of people are abusing the OP for making such a suggestion, and the first comment I see is this:
"Kamran do you really own a kebab shop?"

Essien was world class in his prime. Could do so much. His shots from long range were insane. He was the African Beast.
But since he relied so much on his athleticism, injuries meant he's not the same anymore.

50P is correct, in his prime Essien was a rock of a defensive midfielder and could go forward like a boss and play effective enough due to his strength and ability to shoot from distance - I remember one particular goal where essien scored a screamer in a thrashing chelsea produced 3 or 4 years back. He ran the show.
But I agree.. he is not the same anymore and I'd rather take a gamble on Capoue than loan Essien for 75k a week or so

He wasn't a defensive midfielder, he was box-to-box?

FFS no! We don't need to sign another crock. He is also WELL past his sell by date.

no no NO!!! saw him play a few games last season - I haven't seen a player look so outpaced by a game since Aquilani left. Honestly the worst player on the pitch. Sad really but he has had it, he's a championship player.

Yes he is injury prone and not just of late.
He will fit right in, sign him up Wenger.
