Any other day, and it could've been a win for Tottenham. Both brilliant teams, Juve's passing game paid off today, but De Jong doesn't fit snuggly into a possession based team, and it showed today. Tottenham's spending up front meant they're back four were slightly vulnerable. Spurs can pretty much guarantee goals every game and shouldn't be down heartened by today's result.

Napoli 0 - 2 Inter

Not the best of games here today, early season nerves no doubt. The game didn't kick on until Inter brought on Cassano who was a threat for the 30 odd minutes he played. Robben was gifted freedom on the wings with Napoli's constricted formation, and he got onto a brilliant through ball from Cassano to rifle in his first of the season. Cassano then turned an unlucky Subotic to curl a beauty in from the edge of the 'D'. Napoli never started, but have a good team and can expect to pick up points reguarly.

Liverpool 3 - 1 Newcastle

Today's late kick off saw a two top British teams clash for the first time this season. Unfortunately, Newcastle just didn't seem to be set up right against a well marshalled Liverpool side. They tried to keep the ball, but were let down by Ben Arfa and Neymar who were more intent on running at defenders than keeping play moving. Liverpool on the other hand had a nice balance, and an unlikely scorer in Allen let them take the lead early on. Allen shockingly doubled the lead, and though not known for his goal scoring prowess revelled in the space he was given against Tiote who was busy dealing with Oscar. Newcastle kept it interesting when Lewandowski connected with a Willian cross but Higuain gave 'pool breathing space again with an instinctive finish during a scramble.

Attackers ruled the day with both defences having no answer for the potent strike forces





Napoli 1-2 inter

Napoli put up a spirited effort against the potent attack force of inter but come up just short. Early lead for Napoli cancelled out in the 60th minute by a blistering strike from robben. Late controversial penalty for inter which Tevez dispatched with ease to give inter victory.



Liverpool 1-1 Newcastle

Two very evenly matched teams play out a 1-1 draw. Chances for both teams to win it but some poor finishing cost both teams dear. Newcastle will probably be the happier of the two teams , Liverpool slightly disappointed they couldn't take advantage of being at home for first game of the season
