I'm not defending them, I dislike them as much as anyone. Not enough to wear a Norwich scarf but as much as anyone in red. It's been reported half went to the debt half went to the Glazers. I just find it odd that anyone thinks they'd run their cash cow into the ground.

They defend them because they have no choice.

They all know that the Glazers are taking Utd for all it´s worth and the only reason that things haven´t fallen to bits at Utd under the Glazers is because of Fergie.

The reason Utd fans don´t kick up more of a fuss is because they know how important for Utd to maintain the illusion that they are not completely skint.

you take my point. I dont think Glazer type takeovers should be allowed and the rulemakers of FFP have missed an opportunity by not outlawing.
I acknowledgement 99.9% of United fans would prefer a Sheik or Oligarch to Glazers. So why dont the authorities make it a condition of any buy out that the purchasing debt cannot be saddled on the club.

I'm not sure you can stop that sort of takeover, they can prove they're fit and proper and if they can get a loan, even one as bad as the original PIK loans were and they can get someone to sell them the shares then it's theirs. As far as being a skint club we're still spending a fair bit of money, in that respect it doesn't seem much different from when United was a PLC.

Obviously I'd prefer a sheik, one that makes mansour look like a peasant would be nice.
