How much was made available to AVB, reading him talk about spurs asking for an incredible sum for modic got me wondering if roman has tightened the purse again, I am not advocating for reckless spending on our tatgets but imo this is no time to be prudent. AVB should be given enough money to bring in high quality world class players to boost our chances as we target the trebble next season. How much has been or should be made available to the new boss?

After watching today's pre-season friendly...it reminded me of last season's performance.
I wonder how long it will take AVB to fully access this squad, cos nothing has changed...same old same old display.
AVB should hurry up with the transfers...I'm fed up of seeing these same faces...Malouda, Lampard, Drogba, Anelka, etc

This is not the time for despair. AVB will not need alot longer to assess the squad and he must have already seen that we ran out of ideas in the last third of the pitch.
Expect new blood in the near future which will envigorate the whole dynamic of the team.

Bloody why do you mention Drogba when he was probably better than Torres in that game, and he was definately no worse? In any case, it's only a pre-season game, and we won it, and many fo our players it's the first of many matches to get match fit. I'm confident by the end of pre-season we'll be playing better with a few new faces as well

I know it's only a pre season game but Drogba was terrible, Torres didn't do much but he did better. I think that the strikers where played with the wrong team's, Drogba should of started with the 1st half team and Torres with the 2nd half team. The worst player of the day though was bosingwa by a mile. He was just lazy and i hope he is the first player to leave.

Really? I know both were bad but I would say Drogba was better, he wuold have scored that free-header Torres had and he looked more dangerous. Torres' control was still far off and lost possesion to many times for my liking.

I dont think Drogba would of got that header because it was Torres movement that created the chance for him. Every time Drogba got the ball today bar his long shot he lost the ball, at least Torres was keeping the moves going.

But that's the thing though, Torres lost possesion quite a lot of times when on the ball, and let's face it Torres didn't move for that corner, it was just where he was positioned, if Drogba was in the same place we both know he'd bury a free-header.

Yes drogba would, but if you watch him, he sort of makes the same run as the rest of the team then pulls backwards to create the chance, both were not benefited though by the players behind them though imo.

I actually agree with super dan sturridge completely. Drogba would have suited the first half team while torres would have suited the second. And to me, torres played a bit better than drogba today. At least i felt torres was sharper and more interested than didier. Its just preseason though so no need for hasty conclusions. The team still got in some really good positions.
