Man Utd climbing the table

Man Utd are climbing the table - the injury table. Could it be a repeat of last year?

The table is at http://www.physioroom.com/news/english_premier_league/epl_injury_table.php

Arsenal 6
Villa 6
Man Utd 5
Fulham 4
Spurs 4
everyone else - 0 to 3.

Why do Man Utd have so many injuries?

Oh, and we had plenty of injury probems during Queroz time at the club as well.

TBF, when I first read your comment about Phelan I thought, knowing what idiots on this board think about Phelan and his 'role' at United is, (and apparently having Fergie in his back pocket)..... that you were playing Devil's Advocate to start a Phelan bashing thread.

But if it was a genuine question because you really don't know that thats fine by me.

Injuries can occur from the strangest of things that have nothing to do with the training regime. I seem to remember that the constant trouble Giggs had with his hamstring were later to be found to be caused by his car seats and driving position. Yoga also helped to cure this. Different training methods will invariably yield different outcomes. What is good for the gander might not be good for the goose.
Phelan's part in this, is in conjunction with the player, the people who devise their personal training programme, and sheer luck.
Interesting question though.

Fletchers Bowel condition, surely not down to Phelan

You've clearly never had one of Phelan's infamous vindaloos.... Fletch knew what he was gettin himself into

I say the medical team and the players themselves.

A doctor can advise his patient all he likes to stop smoking but if he goes home, he can still puff all he likes.

I think a lot of players, when at home, away from the glare of the professionalists - some of them partake in bad behaviour.

One of the reasons i rate Wenger alot is when he first came to Arsenal and changed the whole, binge-drinking, junkfood-gorging culture that virtually all his players had.

You still see pics of Rooney, Cole etc smoking , boozing and with portions of fish and chips.

Get The Physio to post a copy of my comments made earlier today, on the trainin and dressing room Notice Boards.
The conversation appears to have drited somewhat from what the O.P. enquired about.

Few theories to throw into the hat.

1. Bad luck e.g. Fletcher, Rooney etc
2. Over the seasons United play more games than the average squad, especially when you throw internationals into the mix
3. Athletes get injuries all the time, in fact the closer you are to the perfect athlete i.e. the more finely honed you are, the closer you are to breaking e.g. hamstring. Athletes, such as those at the Olympics, are also more susceptible to even cold, especially if they train for endurance and do intense interval training. Maybe our training is so superb that it gets our players in such peak physical condition that it also means our guys are at higher risk of injuries.

You may note formula 1 cars breakdown a little more than your average ford fiesta.

'colds' I meant above not 'the cold'

To contrast it looks as though Man citys investment in this area has really paid off
