We have Borini but i dont think this season he's going to do a Torres and score 30 odd goals for us in his first season, although i was impressed with his movement and tracking...BUT, its not scoring is it!
Anyway, Borini is more for the next few yrs and i am talking THIS season. Carroll wont score 30 odd goals becasue he wont get game time, suarez has a 14% conversion rate from last season and already looks like continuing in the same vein; we all know last season we were missing a true top class goal threat...guess what, WE STILL ARE!!
Now, one name just keeps coming in to the equation; plays Prem football, hits the back of the net has pace and is probably available for the right price...£12M (ish) and would love the opportunity to play at Anfield i bet.
Of course i mean J Defoe....imo if we had Jermaine then he would easily increase the amount of goals scored for us. That could very easily be the difference between CL and 5th place.
Strikers.

I'd rather have Berbatov than Owen despite him being a lazy g*t, having huge wage demands and the chances of Fergie letting him come to us being less than zero.

Firstly, we wouldn't sell unless we got Damiao (unlikely). Secondly, the only reason we would sell is because he doesn't fit into 4-3-3 which is what AVB and Rodgers always play.
Give him a run in any team and he'll score goals. However, in modern football (with managers like Rodgers and AVB) the goal poacher is no longer enough. I'm surprised you didn't try and hijack the Ade deal, he's the type of striker you really need.

Owen would be a good option if Carroll went!
but obviously only as an impact player and he would be a good mentor to the likes of Borini and even Suarez could learn a thing or two
But obviously I would prefer another strategy IMO

comment by Bale me out. (U7905)
Exactly what he said.
We don't need a Torres. We need a player who'll work hard for the team and can link up well with the other players. Instead of them just feeding him.

WTF?? We DONT need a Torres!!!!!! You what? We DO absolutely need a Torres. Let me put it this way, if we got a player who scored 20-25 goals a season then top 4 and above id say would be a given!

i bet you we wait until january before we sort out our strikers and i bet you again that we sign darren bent from villa for about £12million.
i'd just make a £15m bid for huntelaar who hasn't been given a new contract yet and has a buy out clause of £17million. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2159663/Klaas-Jan-Huntelaar-leave-Schalke-17m.html
so sell carroll for as much as possible anything north of £15million and buy huntelaar for £17million. problem solved

Lmfao, you're all muppets.
Never said that we didn't need a goalscorer. Go on, re-read it right now and realise that.
I said we don't need a poacher. As they offer nothing to the team, they only take from the team. Which is all good when you play a system that is suited to them.
But we don't, we use 3 fluid forwards instead of 1 striker & 2 wingers. Maybe the 'Chelsea Torres' would be able to play in this system considering his passing/link-up play improvements since moving there. But players like Bent & Huntelaar are beyond useless at contributing to the build-up.
We need more than a poacher, we need a player who can interchange, score goals & contribute to the team.
