Writing on the Wall

We are now entering the seventh succesive season of the annual struggle to stay up and it gives me no pleasure to say this will be our last in the Championship for several years. Last season I claimed Vaz-Te would be playing in the Premier League, this years season tickets sales would be the lowest for seven years, relegation would follow and Hill would resign.

In November 2006 Ritchie was fired, the two reasons being to avoid relegation and because he would not spend money on players who would probably be no better than the ones he had.

In August 2009 Davey was dismissed after Cryne claimed we could not carry on doing the same things year upon year and expect to improve.

In May 2011 Robins was placed on gardening leave after refusing conditions laid down by the management.

In June 2011 Hill was appointed and only as a result of the deduction of points from Portsmouth avoided relegation.

Three things have remained consistent, we have never had a decent defence, the management have remained the same and apart from Davey having two short spells in League Two none of the managers have managed again in the Football League.

In 2006 under Ritchie I recall games against Cardiff, WBA and Southampton which we failed to win yet the team were applauded off the field. Compare that to the present day where Hill excuses the players
before kick off by telling anyone who listens that on our budget we should not expect to win. Fans are bored by hearing this week after week and as a result attendances are falling. This season Hill probably has the largest squad for years but it's quantity not quality.

The management also have a negative outlook offering little in the way of hope or ambition, Cryne has his own problems, Rowing has no idea of how to run a club and Taylor is only interested in furthering his FA career.

Mick McCarthy is getting itchy feet and there will never be a more appropriate time to offer him a one year deal with both parties free to decide at the end of this period. One thing which would be guaranteed is an increase in attendances.

Well your first prediction turned out to be true! wow you must be a clairvoyant, well done. As for season ticket sales who knows?? I don't care, I know I GOT MINE. As for the rest, still early days. Tell you what though why don't you just go away and not post on here at all until these things come to pass, then come back on to do some long winded 'I told you so' post. In the meantime we'll all carry on being SUPPORTERS.
One idea could be to pi$$ off and make a billion pounds being a profession whinger, though I can't think who pay for your misery. Perhaps Goths!! you could bottle it and sell it as some foul smelling Emo perfume. Call it 'poison' or something. Oh no!! ... hang on been done before. Anyway, just go get loads of money, then give it to BFC to buy better players, problem solved. In the meantime please just go away.

Is there only 3 games left or somat? If this is the only type of article you are capable of writing, go away and leave the way for sensible input. We all know it's going to be hard but for goodness sake OTT or what!? Good point about the level playing field we are ready when (if) it comes. Ten point deduction is meaningless, if they hadn't spent beyond their means to get big players then they may have finished with less than their final tally with affordable players.

There's not a snowballs chance in hell our Mick would come and manage the club, short term or otherwise

You may want to create a username, U15709, otherwise you could be confused with U7380...and I wouldn't wish that on George Osborne...

Hi Barnsley fans. All doom and gloom on here I see!
You haven't had the best starts to a season (Which I hope lasts just one more game) but before you start programming your satnavs for the L1 grounds, take a look at our performance at the start of last season! It aint over till its over and we managed an amazing comeback after being 5 points adrift at the BOTTOM - which you aren't yet.
Good luck (apart from this week and one other game that is!)

Thanks for the words of support bcfcredandwhite.

TBH not all the fans are in the same doom and gloom frame of mind and most of the negative comments come from our resident little ray of sunshine U7380 (usually called Uboat by most of our board). We have had worse starts to the season ourselves (something which a select few seem to forget) and hopefully a win on Saturday will silence a couple of the grumbling minorities at Oakwell.
