US Open Brit watch

US Open kicked off yesterday with some tough dread for British women.

Heather Watson succumbed to Li NA in straight sets but has another chance in the women's doubles, she's won 2 doubles tournaments this year so hope she does well here.

Laura Robson won her first round match and now faces Clijsters in round 2 who is in her last slam before retiring, could anything happen in that?

Keothavong and Konta in action later today.

Murray safely through with his new aggressive game.

5-1 down comes back to win 7-5 against a girl 150 places higher in rankings.

Her first Grand Slam win, great news for British tennis.

Jonty,

What IS British tennis?

Everyone who plays tennis in Britain.

From the kids I coach through to the 82 year old holocaust survivor who played with us on Sundays until recently.

I just got in from yet another very tough day in my truck, this time driving round various Printing places and moving tonns upon tonns of paper/adverts around and have just seen that result Jonty and am chuffed to rocks for Laura.

Clearly her opponent is now finished and I wish them both well in their respective futures, Lauras of course on the tennis courts.

Repeat, chuffed to rocks for her.
