Coppinger

Howdy

Forest fan in peace. So we've signed Coppinger, but without wanting to seem ignorant, I have no idea what to expect from him.

Can you guys shed some light?

Thanks,

Hoons.

Sorry to interupt the love-in.

But getting back to my OP, Copps did ok his first appearance, didn't tear up any trees, but did ok. Only came on as a sub towards the end tho

Gillett on the other hand has been immense! In my opinion he has been our best signing of the season, ahead of players like Cox, Ayala and Collins. He is a rock in the centre, puts in cracking tackles and distributes brilliantly. I can see him becoming a Forest legend, and if we get promoted, the type of player you can see going for £8-£10million. (well if Wolves can do it)

How do you guys feel about us with 3-ex players and an ex-manager? Is it more a hate thing or more of a 2nd team thing?

Only numskulls would have it as hate, been plenty of good banter over last few years and I have mates who are Forest fans. I became a Forest follower (as I am Donny to the Core) around 1968 when a gang of us went to watch Forest play MUFC with Law - Charlton - Best etc. I remember Lyons being the main name at the time. Donny were playing on South Coast or somewhere past Bawtry. We all went by train, shouting for Forest and they did the deed by winning 4 -1 a brilliant Day. and Forest fans singing "You'll never take the Trent End". Since then been o.k, apart when some of your mob got gobby. I even forgave the 8 - 0 drubbing in the League Cup (after we beat you at Forest 4-1.

Have good season. I don't think that you will get any adverse comments. I hope not anyway

Hoons - i would love to have all three of those players still in our team and i think most of our fans would agree with me.
Gillett and Coppinger wanted to stay but our post relegation finances wouldnt allow it.
After his first season with us it was obvious that Sharp was on the lookout for a move.
Sharp is a great finisher but i always thought that in the games that he didnt score in you could sometimes forget he was on the pitch, he doesnt get involved in much of the build up play but comes to life in the box.
As for SoD, well i was a big fan of his way of playing but towards the end of his time here it did become very one dimensional and i think that other clubs sussed us out.
Get used to not making any substitutions until the 80th minute and get used to him bringing defenders on to hold on to 1-0 or drawing situations.
He did it all the time at Donny but it inevitably led to an opposition goal in the last few minutes.
Obviously the massive cash injection at Forest means things will be different for SoD and there are some Rovers fans who get at our owners and directors for not pumping more money into the Rovers but what happens for you if things dont go to plan?
Will the new owners pull out, as has happened at many other clubs, and leave a mess in their wake.
I hope not but some of these foreign investors soon have a change of heart when results dont go right.
I would rather have owners like ours who are local people and have the interests of the club at heart rather than glory hunting.
Good luck for the season and i hope the ex Rovers lads do well for you.

To be honest the new owners have not put a foot wrong since they joined. They have continually stated they are in this for the long haul, and have constantly kept the fans informed and involved. For example, we find out about new signings first directly from our chairman, who tweets the news! We love this!!

Considering we have just brought in 11 quality players, they have not spent that much money really. I think net spend is currently about £5million, which when compared to the likes of Cardiff and Blackburn spending, is not much really. They are business men first and foremost having turned a corner shop into a multi-billion empire, and it seems as though this is how they want to run Forest; sustainably!

So to cut a long story, every Forest fan I know or who contributes on these sites are impressed with the owners, and we feel lucky that they have chosen us over other teams which were offered to them (including Leeds). We're all fairly confident they'll stick with us for a long long time

Hoons. You will find that number 26 is not as good as most people think.Looks good but nothing happens.
A working mans Stuart Downing.
But he has loads of ability and natural talent that is for sure.Gillett will do you a great job.
Hound dont get upset please, thank you.

I really hope you make it this year. You will be in with a chance but just don't think So'D or the x Rovers players will do it for you. Having said that I would have them all back ! I hope I'm proved wrong.

Hoons, dont take the comments by lanzarote about Coppinger too seriously.
Lanzarote regularly comes on here character assasinating Coppinger and is generally humoured by myself and other posters.
Touche.
Lanzarote is known to be of dubious character himself and often frequents the resort of Whitby and is well known for getting locals to buy him drinks in return for "certain favours"

Doesnt number 26 hail from Guisboro which is very close to Whitby
