Liverpool, title??

Note: Wums will be deleted...no exceptions. I want the thoughts of honest Liverpool fans whether they go to the matches or not. Reasoned arguements based on evidence, if possible. In short a "serious" discussion on why we can, or why we cant compete for the title.

Many thanks.

Ok, ok....first of, after the last few weeks comings and goings at the various clubs, i will nail my colours right to the mast and say....i have come to the conclusion that Liverpool WILL compete for the title...the reasons are below, please note "COMPETE" not win!!

Reasons:

Squad depth:

Liverpool have pretty much for all the prem yrs had a lack of quality after the first 11 on the pitch. Is that the case now?? Emphatically it is not, i wont list the players but we all know what has happened recently and if you want, check out the Liverpool website and take a look at the players.

Youth:

Kelly, Spearing, Flanagan, Robinson, Coady etc, these guys have come through and do add more depth when needed, lets not go overboard; but KD was in charge of the young lads before his position of manager and he knows these lads, they do a good job when needed...and if commitment for the shirt was in the form of medals, then they would have a shed load....anyone see flano, kelly tackle?? if you have, then you know what i mean.

Manager:

Legend, clever, tactically astute and crucially has won titles before; in short he is a WINNER who commands immediate respect and maybe the only manager who Fergie actually respects and i suspect fears...maybe fear is too strong, but you get what i mean. He has united Liverpool like no one else can or could have.

Europe (lack of it):

This is something that has to have an impact, if you dont believe me look back at seasons gone when teams have played AFTER a European game, the record isnt great. Liverpool have no distractions, and can rest while the utds, cities and chelseas have to rotate or play their best players twice in a week. It will have a positive impact for Liverpool.

The "club":

What do i mean? Well, i mean the whole structure right from the owners through to the youth coaches. It has been completely restructured with new coaches at all levels (inc obviously S Clarke), the owners who seem to have an affinity with the club already and have a nice touch of tweeting fans, a real sense of "with the fans mentality". Transfer funds, already spent in access of £100M!! When was the last time we had that?? never i suspect. All this adds stabilty, continiuity and gives the players a sense of direction that the "Liverpool way" is back...in short complete harmony throughout, priceless....players WANT to come!!!

Rivals:

Chelsea, new manager. Arsenal players discontent. City losing their best player. Now i know these may alll turn out to be good moves for the clubs mentioned, but it cant help before the season starts that some of our rivals seem to be in more turmoil than they would rather like.

Utd...i separated these because i think they have no real issues, they have signed a GK replacement and losing scholes is not as bad as rivals probably think. However, i do think they are light in midfield and everyone knows they won a poor league last season, they were not that good...everyone else was that bad. This is one reason why "i" believe Liverpool can challenge, sinply because the team that won the league...actually wasnt that great!!

Its long, but they are MY views on why Liverpool CAN challenge...not rubbish, not looking through tinted glasses and not reasons that cannot be substantiated.

Cheers!!!!

It's funny there are people still talking to bubbles. He probably she has nothing to offer about LFC. It's filtered for me thank goodness so I can see the drivel it comes out with anymore.

So to the article, I think we can win the league. The reason I say it is that Man U won it with a less than extraordinary side. We have made solid signings which are proven performers in the premier league. Not stars by any means but I think we will compete in every match this season, which is what we have failed at in the last few years.

Andy Carroll's Ponytail (U1217)

What evidence is their to suggest Everton, Spurs and Villa aren't improving, but Liverpool are.

No team in the top half bar City actually made an improvement on their previous years points tally, they all went backwards bar City and Fulham

I would definitely agree Villa are going backwards as emphasized by their managerial appointment and sale of big name players to rival clubs.

As for Everton, time will tell. I've seen nothing to suggest Everton won't improve just as I've seen nothing to suggest Liverpool won't improve.

As for Spurs, they only finished one place lower than the previous year despite juggling European football as well, they got to the 1/4 finals at the first time of asking having beaten some of the greatest ever European sides in Internazionale and AC Milan all in one season, what eveidence is there to suggest they aren't on the up and won't improve? The way I see it is things are in the balance. If they kept Modric and signed another midfielder and 2 more strikers to partner Defoe and Pavlyuchenko, they would have as good a chance as anyone to make top 4

I still believe Everton and Spurs have as much of a chance at top 4 as Liverpool and evidence suggests this, Liverpool would love to have Everton's back 4 and Spurs midfield

Spurs midfield?? whatever, i asssume you mean Bale, Modric then thats all....the rest, behave yourself!!

Evertons defence?? Not a chance Reina, Agger, Carra, Johnson, Kelly, Aurelio....i am happy with that matey!!

Van Der Vaart, Modric, Sandro, Lennon and Bale would all walk into the Liverpool side

As for Everton Baines, Jagielka and Coleman would all walk into the Liverpool side

At the risk of having my comment deleted do Liverpool fans not feel embarrassed by the OP's article? Not just this one but pretty much every article he writes? I mean the statements he makes are just so outlandish and out of this world they just make the rest of you seem like deluded fools for even partially agreeing with him? Or are you not embarrassed by this drivel and actually silly enough to agree with it?

We have got no chance of winning the prem.
If were lucky we might sneak a champions league spot.
