According to a twitter source we've had a second bid for jack Colback turned down by Sunderland. I didn't even realise we were in for him! Do we need another midfielder though?

Maybe our coaches think there's a lot of development potential left in him – that is to say, Premiership potential. He is only 21, and I believe that Oakley, Moreno, Wellens and Moussa all have contracts expiring at the end of this season, so we do actually need to start thinking about next season – crazy though that sounds!
Maybe our guys are saying "Let's grab him while he's available, and see how much we can bring him on in the next 12 months".

To put that another way, we may seem to have loads of midfielders today, but with so many en route to becoming free agents at the end of the season, will we still have them all in September, let alone February? If we think we're going to need players like Colback, now is a better shopping window than January.

Wouldnt be a bad signing, just might see someone we dont want going, going.

Wellens and Moussa have signed exteded contracts - don't think they expire til 2013

Bring him in. He's a cracking player.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again - It doesn't matter how many we have in our squad, if the incoming player is better than them, we should sign them.
I've got a feeling we'll get Colback, and Oakley will be given the first team coach role.
