...that Drogba has just been released and is now a free agent. Now I would love for us to sign him on a short term contract as cover for Suarez and Borini, but I can't see it happening because of wage demands, imo he'll probably end up in America, Qatar or that rich Russian club called Anzhi something.

1 year contract 90 K wages on a free, no sign on bonus might work. Depends if he wants the money or another crack at football a high level for a year befoe heading of the USA.

PJ's - There'll be no transfer fee to pay just wages to discuss and as we've saved £21m on the wage bill with players released so far.....
Won't happen though!

He will want a big signing on fee and mega wages, that's if he would even consider a return to England.
It's just not going to happen, and the same probably goes for Anelka.
If we are signing frees, Klasnic or Owen are the best we are going to get.
They are about the same age and similar sort of players who come alive in the box.
Owen has more pedigree, but will cost more and will divide opinion.
Personally I doubt we will sign any of them.

Didier Drogba's management company rubbished reports the striker had been released by Shanghai Shenhua on Saturday.
A spokeswoman for the Sports PR Company, which represents Drogba in the UK, said claims the former Chelsea striker's career in China were over after two and a half months were 'nonsense'.

yes, whilst the Chinese league was on a break, he'll be returning shortly. It will be a long process with the shareholders which will determine whether the three big earners will have to be sold, it won't happen overnight.

I don't think there was ever any serious chance of Drogba and Anelka being released. One of the owners of that club (who owns about 25%) pays the wages, and there was an agreement in place saying that after he has invested a certain amount he can claim majority ownership of the club. For whatever reason, he hasn't been granted majority ownership yet so made some comments about not paying Drogba's wages. It's all politics.
