I see the term world class thrown around a lot these days, mainly for players who aren't deserving. Players like Cazorla, Ben Arfa, Hazard etc.
Players like these have the ability to be world class, either as the get older (Hazard, Ben Arfa etc.) or as they learn from new teams and leagues (Kagawa, Cazorla etc.)
For me, every single current world class player in the PL is at Man Utd or Man City:
RVP, Rooney, Silva, Aguero, Tevez, Yaya Toure, Kompany would be the only ones IMO.
Obviously there are ex world class players, that are so due to age/injury, such as JT, Lampard, Gerrard, Vidic etc.
I just think to be called world class, you have to be able to play in any team in the world and play consistently (unlike players like Robben and Pique)
So what do you think the term world class should mean? Discuss.

Who was that valencia keeper that was fkin quality when we played them a few years ago as well ? Can't remember his name for the life of me and have been trying to think of it for ages to see where he is and if he is still good. Not even totally sure if it was Valencia either

Could the people who think Cech is not world class explain to me why he isnt in detail.
Also tell me which goalkeeper in the premier league is better than him.

I cba to go into detail Saint, but i wouldn't say Cech is world class anymore mainly do to his inconsistency. Gets beat at his near post quite often now and has a howler in him. If he was able to show that CL form though for longer periods then he's probably the best keeper in the world

A world class player is someone who is in the top 3 players in the world in their position, i'm taking this view because the likes of Pele, Maradonna, Best, Cruyff, Moore, Beckenbauer amongst others have said the same thing.

very few players are world class....
even fewer are above that....(Galactico if you like) but you need another category above this as some players were unfortunate to have been born somewhere where the national side is weak (which is an integral part of being world class)
George Best would be a good example Eusebio another..
Messi is easily the best player in the world closely followed by Ronaldo (both up for debate) - but can you compare Messi with someone like Mattaeus Beckenbauer or Zidane who have actually won the world cup
Messi may well get a chance to win it (possibly in Brazil) if Argentina are good enough
Many players have won domestic & European honours by the bucket full...(Giggs scholes Neville Cole) but nothing internationally - where do they sit...

How is Cech inconsistent? He's arguably been our best, most consistent player in 2012.
He had a blip in the first half of the AVB season. The season prior he won player of the year. One of his strengths is his consistency.
Howler? In terms of howlers, Cech makes the fewest of all the goalkeepers in the world IMO. He's extremely reliable.
