Imo, any such award to a Spanish player should've gone to Xavi, but Iniesta has put in stellar performances in all of those tournaments when it mattered most, i.e. semis/finals.

Anyhow, it was only UEFA Player of the Year, not the Ballon d'Or.

CR could also be sad because quite a lot of Madrid fans still don't take to him, but that's not going to change, because he's not going to stop being a príck extraordinaire.

I honestly don't think he is enjoying playing for Madrid as much as he thought he would. He is psaying second fiddle in the league to Messi and has still not won the CL there.

It must be annoying as a player, that regardless of what you do you'll always just be second fiddle to someone else in every manner possible. The team itself will be overshadowed by Barcelona as well.

It took a colossal amount of effort to win the league with the amount of points they did, and doing it with one of the best Managers on the planet. I guess it's just turned into one of those jobs, where you ask yourself, what's the point trying when nobody is going to notice and nothing will come of it.

Mourinho has already announced he wants to leave one day anyway, so it's not like anyone is looking at a long-term project.

forza aperantly you haven't seen ronaldo play lately that and the fact that you have your nose up messi's ass all the time make's it hard to be objective.

these barca and madrid players have a love hate relationship they'l fight like cats and dogs on the field then in they next game the kiss and hug in the tunel loving cousins and they'l stab a non spanish teamate in the back when nessesary

Not when Ronaldo won it. The Ballon'dor was for the European footballer of the year. The world footballer of the year was a separate trophy. MIchale Owen won it a long time ago as well.

Fifa merged it into the Fifa Ballon Dor in 2010. Prior to that there were 2 separate awards
