Any team that has Carrick playing as their main man in midfield can forget about winning anything. Yesterday he was a shambles. Constantly giving the ball away with his useless passing, panicking under pressure and either hoofing it or let the opposition just take it from him. He's completely out of his depth and it's the most important position on the field. Didn't see Carzola hoofing it away under pressure, giving it away constantly. Honestly, Carrick does pretty much nothing going forward and not enough defensively to make up for that.
What is it with Fergies obsession of playing people out of position? Granted, Nani has bad days, sometimes very bad days but he's still one of the most creative players in our team. Still one of the biggest threats and I can't understand why you'd play Welbeck as a winger as opposed to a good winger as a winger. Doctors don't start plumbing at the weekend.
Carrick plus players out of posistion.

Cleverley, now there is average if I ever saw one.
----------------------------------------
He had a bad game, partly due to Carrick being so rusty. Other than that, he has played well in every UTD game he has started.
People like you will never see the benefits of players who just keep it simple like Cleverley or Joe Allen.

disagree, was poor against everton, and was poor yesterday, thats 2 out of 3 this season.

he wasn't bad against Everton..... They just put in diagonal ball after diagonal ball, nullifying our midfield.
When he was in possession, he made things happen. Rewatch the match. He did fine.

I've not seen anything from Cleverley that tells me he has something.
He's living off that 8-2 against Arsenal. He's done nothing since.

Please, if you have MUTV, rewatch the game and you will se he does NOTHING. He demands the ball like he has a killer pass in his head, hops up and down and when the ball comes, he passes it back to the defence.

i'm not gonna sit and explain why players do that.... you clearly have never played any decent level football.
I used to get mad at players for it myself, until I was about 8 and realised it was an essential part of the midfield game.
For every back pass or cautious side pass, he also runs at players, takes up space and move the ball around well.... He is a simple player, so I except him to be the new panto villain.
I'm sure you were one of those calling Carrick the crab too?

Nope, And I have archived articles of me backing Carrick to the absolte hilt on the old 606. Wanna see them? Try googling my username, BBC 606 and Carrick.
I appreciate these kind of players, but Carrick can hit a pass longer than 10 yards, Cleverley cant.

short, fast passing is a skill in itself. Cleverley is much better at that than Carrick. If Carrick has one flaw, he dithers on the ball too much.
btw - pretty sure Clevs through ball in the olympics was a bit longer than 10 yards. yea yea yea, olympics is shíte blah blah blah..... the ball was still round, from what I can recall.

Some of our fans just live in denial. Ok 1) do we all agree man utd is or should be the biggest clubside in the world? If yes is carrick among the best 10 players in the world in whatever it is he does for us? Some would say yes. If so explain to us all why United have barely dominated the midfield for several years now. Why does every other midfield player no matter how lowly the club easily dominate us there? How many top midfielders run away from passes as we all saw carrick doing yesterday. This is man utd we should have the best midfielders in the world and not managing incompetent players.

Same goes for cleverly. There are Many, yes many better midfielders around. And for some who pretend players must be developed by the club those days are over. Unless you want our club playing second fiddle to man city and others.

Carrick cover a half a kilometer more than any other United player on Sunday and with Carrick, you know it is not headless chicken movement.
He hit a couple of stray passes and was robbed of the ball once. (Which is the first time that has happened in ages)
He did also hit some bloody good passes too
Wasn't his greatest performance but for goodness sake, the guy was the mainstay midfielder last season when all the others were falling like flies and we were a kick away from taking the title
One game with a couple of stray passes and you get this? Utterley pathetic
