Best CM's ever?

Seen a debate earlier regarding who was better out of Scholes and Xavi. So i'v decided to put together an article as to who are some of the best central midfielders of all time. Some are traditional box to box, some deep lying playmakers, and some were number 10's often playing in the middle. Others will go on become greats once their careers finish.

My list below is no particular order of the players I have seen play -

Zinedine Zidane
Paul Scholes
Xavi Hernandez
Andres Iniesta
Michael Ballack
Pavel Nedved
Patrick Vieira
Steven Gerrard
Clarence Seedorf
Cesc Fabregas
Xabi Alonso
Claude Makelele
Deco
Juninho
Ivan De La Pena
Frank Lampard
Roy Keane

Forgive me if I have missed any obvious ones, please feel free to add your own, particularly the ones from your era.

Admins please multi board as i would like everyones opinions.

For me Gazza was over-rated.

-------------------------

If he wasnt British then he would not have got the hype. In any case he wasted his talent and does not deserve a mention. There are players who worked hard to get where they was, Gazza wasted his life and talent.

So you agree on that then?

"That Dubbed guy has been murdered throughout this thread and has demonstrated that he is utterly delusional by coming back for more and actually believing he was on top of the argument with ridiculous comments and nothing to back them up. What a tool."

What a cheerleader. You've basically repeated what your boy Robbing did.

"But saying Gerrard was not world class because he relied more heavily on physicality rather than technique is nonsense."
.
Along with his lack of tactical know-how, limited creativity and intelligence on the ball.
He was still a very good player. And he was extremely efficient on his day.

"None one agrees bar 1 or 2 scousers. That's what you wrote and I make things up?Took about 2 minutes. None of them scousers."

How do any of those comments say anything about accolades?

What are we arguing over here? No one said Gerrard's a poor player.

In essence, none of those agreed with your point about awards and accolades.
So once again. Your point fails. Why on earth do you keep doing this to yourself?

You claim my argument is a "mess" yet you're jumping from point to point.

"You wrote that. In essence you think you opinion means more than mine. More than everyone’s. Utter arrogance and yet with so little reason to be so. You’re incredibly pretentious. That’s not an insult – it’s an observation.
You won’t think you are but that’s then that’s very nature of it."

Every man should have faith in himself. You should too, instead of relying on another man's take on things.

You know? Maybe you should be a psychologist or something. You think you have me figured out. You could be more of a success in that.

Enjoy your party.

Another silly comment, I'm hardly Robbing's cheerleader, he filtered me a long time ago.

You just keep coming out with unfounded claims with no evidence. It's like you like in a different universe, created so that you can be correct in everything you say. You're not though, so you're wrong and that's where this word 'delusional' keeps popping up.

With good reason as well.

Unfounded with no evidence? I've gone through it all with that other guy.

And your evidence is a few accolades here and few quotes here.

Hilarious that you're labeling me "deluded" though. That trait is something you Scousers are renown for.

Again. You're making a habit of this unfounded claims. Actually I don't think it was a good reason at all. I was deemed not a real fan because I thought Kenny Dalglish was doing a bad job and needed replaced.

Our evidence is very simple and somewhat substantiated evidence. Individual world accolades which are consistently throughout history given to world class players, in fact never has a player who wasn't world class been included. Your evidence is, you simply don't think so from watching him. It's hilarious.

One player i did miss from the list and someone did mention him was Fernando Redondo. Possibly the most skilful defensive midfielder ever.
