Arsenal's Squad

*ribbit*

Hello again fellow JA606's, a few weeks ago I did an article on Arsenal's Squad and what I thought they needed to do in the transfer window. So now it has ended and we have played a game since then I thought I'd compare that article to now

Goalies

Players: Szczesny, Fabianski, Mannone

Possible Youth Team Players: Martinez

Verdict: I'm happy here, unless we lose one in the transfer window then experienced back up is needed.

Transfers: None

Verdict: Still happy with these players especially after the recent performances on Mannone who I prefer to Fabianski

Defenders

Players: Sagna, Jenkinson, Gibbs, Santos, Mertesacker, Vermaelen, Djourou, Koscielny, Squillaci

Possible Youth Team Players: Miquel, Yennaris

Verdict: Squillaci should hopefully be sold but I fear this may not happen and he should be replaced by Miquel, only weak spot is RB but Jenkinson looked solid yesterday, however wasn't ever really tested so just hope Sagna is back soon with Yennaris able to play if needed.

Transfers: None

Verdict: Shame Squillaci still hasn't been sold but Miquel may even have moved up above him, at least we can release Squillaci at the end of this year!

Central Midfielders

Players: Diaby, Rosicky, Arteta, Wilshere, Ramsey, Carzola, Coquelin, Frimpong, Oxlade-Chamberlain

Possible Youth Team Players: Yennaris, Aneke

Verdict: With Song leaving and a number of these players injury prone I feel the loan signing of Sahin would be perfect, we could maybe do with a proper DM such as M'Villa or similar but Wenger played 2 deep lying midfielders yesterday which could make up for a lack of a proper destroyer and definitely suits our current crop of players so I would be apprehensive to sign another CM permanently especially with Carzola looking to have tied down the most advanced role and Wilshere soon to be back with Oxlade-Chamberlain also looking to play CM this year.

Transfers: None

Verdict: I really like the look of our Midfield after the Liverpool game, Wenger was right not to sign M'vila as Arteta looks to play the deepest midfielder role perfectly for us, reminds me of Xabi Alonso, Carzola looks incredible and then Diaby, Ramsey and Wilshere can rotate in the 2nd Midfielder role meaning we look very strong.

Wingers

Players: Walcott, Gervinho, Podolski, Arshavin, Oxlade-Chamberlain

Possible Youth Players: Gnarby, Eisfield

Verdict: Lots of talent here, but very frustrating, Arshavin looks increasingly likely to say which could be good news as he definitely has talent and is looking a lot fitter this year. We need more consistent performances especially from Walcott and Gervinho and this could be a real area of threat and there needs to be goals from here with the loss of RVP.

Transfers: None

Verdict: Podolski has the Left Wing position for himself and he was brilliant against Liverpool, the right os an issue with Gervinho, Walcott and Oxlade all a bit inconsistent, hopefully one of them can really step up this year, I've supported Theo for years but he doesn't seem that interested at the moment, in which case sell him.

Centre Forwards

Players: Giroud, Podolski, Bendtner, Chamakh, Park

Possible Youth Players: Akpom

Verdict: This is annoying as the amount of deadwood is ridiculous, Park and Chamakh should not be at the club and need to be sold ASAP, I think we need 3 quality strikers to challenge, Bendtner has the talent to be our third choice striker but has no desire to stay and therefore this is the area that I believe some money needs to be spent, apparently talk of Llorente today who I think would be a wonderful signing.

Transfers: Out - Bendtner, Park

This really worries me still, I think Giroud will come good but if he gets injured we are screwed as Podolski looks much better on the left and I don't see anyone else to lead the line upfront. Good news is Chuba Akpom, 16 year old Academy Player who is ripping up the U-21's and the Next Gen series, looks a real prospect to me and may start a few games due to the lack of players.

Anyway there's my views, thoughts on transfers and tactics would really be appreciated and this squad definitely has potential. COYG.

Sorry. It was a strong rumour that i thought went through.

Apart from giving the impression that Akpom might get a look in should Giroud pick up an injury, I can't find a lot wrong with your article, FROG.

I don't expect it to happen but I wouldn't be surprised if Akpom played a little bit, I'm very worried about our strikers!

Think Akpom might make the bench for the early CO C fixtures.

I'm glad for the positive feedback, haven't been on here enough recently, how is everyone?

Just enjoying the start we've made to the season really, FROG.

If the 'Bould effect' really does exist, I'm loving it.

Serge Gnarby was only non-regular squad member to be included in the Champions League Squad I believe, he's the main man of the one's you've picked out.

Bould and Banfield

Not sure if it does exist, but Vermaelen went on about it. So if the players believe it, then that's all fine by me.
