There is a common misconception about Jack Wilshere, he is not an attacking midfielder. Many people especially in pre season seemed to think he would play in the role Cazorla is now playing. He does not suit that. He is a good determined tackler who can create space for himself in midfield to play through balls much like Diaby but in his own way.
He could play in attacking midfield and perform admirably but his finishing/shooting is defiantly his main (and maybe only real weakness) and he would not be as effective in that role. I would play Rosiscky ahead off him in that role let alone playing him ahead of Cazorla.
What prompted this was Verminator_05- Le Koss. in his last article mentioned Cazorla would move outwide for Wilshere to take the attacking midfield role. This would be the worst possible thing to do. Cazorla has stated his love for his current position and is performing brilliantly in it, moving him outwide could see another Arshavin situation develop.
Sorry if this seemed ranty but it annoys me that some people think this about Wilshere showing they clearly pay no attention to his game.
Do people agree? I think my opinion is pretty accurate as I watch nearly every arsenal match and have played football competitively for quite a while. Sorry if I sound like an arrogant

Looking over this I do concede that i am probably wrong after seeing your arguments so thank you

You MAY be right but I think it's a bit unintelligent to suggest that those who think wilshere can play further forward 'pay no attention' to his game. He clearly has all the qualities to play behind the striker. He will shine there.

IMO he's more suited to the box to box role where Diaby is playing now.

of course he can play there. He has a great eye for a pass, and his shooting is usually good. He hit the bar a couple of times from distance in his breakthrough season with us. He has a lot of composure aswell, look at his finish in the CL vs Braga I think it was.
Sadly though, he went more than a year wthout kicking a football. What I liked about him best was his ability to get away from the man and find people in space. These things do get rusty when you don't play regularly, I hope he can rediscover that.

From the outside looking in he looks like he could end up playing further forward. Cesc never used to get a lot of goals. Gerrard started further back.
Personally I think the boy could play anywhere.

These are the apperance, goals and assist stats for Cesc when he was with us. It shows that he added assists to his game first, then he added the goals a few years later.
I think this will be the same for Jack assuming he comes back the same player, he just needs time.

Jack's natural position is as an attacking mid; it's where he played all his youth career and for the reserves. Wenger has always said that's where he'll play him, and Jack says it's his favourite position. Add into that the fact Jack's been given the number ten shirt, and I think it's a pretty safe bet to say he'll play there.

what bestie said.
jack was an attacking player his whole youth career and only moved deeper because we had cesc playing. now cesc has gone jack will play a more attacking role unless Wenger has changed his mind.

Although Jack did indeed play ACM a lot in the reserves/youth teams I do not think Arsene Wenger feels he is ready to play that role just yet. Playing deeper takes away the responsibility and pressure to deliver match winning performances and allowed Wilshere to be bedded in.
Similarly AOC is seen as a CM by Wenger, by all accounts, but will be used more often on the wings at the moment as he is not ready for the central role just yet.
As for the future, we could well see Jack and Alex in a 3 man CM for Arsenal, with Jack the ACM and AOC deeper. Or it could be the other way round. Or it may never happen. Who knows. A new manager in a few years may see Wilshere as a left back for all we know!!!
