For those who can remember, it is 10 years to the day since Rovers thumped the then high-flying Dagenham and Redbridge 5-1 in the first-ever live televised match from Belle Vue.
It heralded our intentions for the season ahead and we were duly promoted to league football. Apart from that visit to Stoke at the end of the season, this was for me our finest hour in an otherwise difficult 5 years of non-league obscurity.
Our march back!

I think I am right when I say Nelson was in goal for Brentford when we scored a legitimate goal but the ball went through a hole in the net and not was not given by the ref.
Can anyone else confirm that? We still won though.

I do believe that was right, he was released after doing a good job for us.

It's a tenuous link from my original post drfchound, but I think I've spotted it. Stuart Nelson was on the bench for the Dagenham match and featured twice (playing second fiddle to Andy Warrington) during our 2002-03 promotion season. Well done!

AMH: Not sure if Nelson (he certainly was when we lost there 4-3 a couple of seasons earlier) was in goal but it was 'scored' with a header by Marc Mcammon in an FA cup tie. We won 1--0 anyway so it didn't have a great effect.

Yes, you are right too, he was in fact on the bench against The Daggers.
