Dunne and Clarke

Ireland's performance was brutal despite winning and we can't wait for Dunne to get back in the mix.Anyone have updates on his injury and how the two not only got on last year but how ye see them settling into Lambert's plans.

No point asking about Stephen Ireland

I think clarke has started off ok, this will be hes first full season so it's better to make judgement of him then.

As for Dunne i wouldn't put all you're hopes on him qualifying you through the group for Brazil as he well past he's sell by date IMO, hes overweight, overpaid and over the hill and the club would of got shot of him if a club would of came in for him on Transfer deadline day.

Steve Ireland would be great if Ireland could get him back into the fold as hes a talented guy, Under Lambert steve's like and new player and i hope to see the best of him this season

dunne is a good player to include if you are lookig to give away a few pens and be reduced to ten men.

he is partial to the odd OG as well.

shocking player

All the indications from Lambert are that he never intended to get rid of Dunne. Dunne's career may not have long to run, but when the chips are down he'll fight to the end. Of all the old back four Dunne's the one who Lambert was inclined to keep and said as much.

Thanks lads.Disappointed to see his club career in a bit of a mess now.He was probably the main reason we got to the Euro's but maybe we should actually blame him for that rather then thank him the way things turned out

His performance against Russia in Moscow last year was something Paul McGrath would have been proud of.He brings a bit of leadership to the team that we are missing too.Maybe it's just the green jersey that makes a difference.

Look forward to seeing more of Clarke this year and have heard some good reports. We could really do with Stephen Ireland back in the team regardless of what's gone in the past.Glad he feels settled at Villa though and finding his form that made him lethal with Man City a few seasons ago.

Good luck with the season anyway and hopefully Villa can get at least a top 10 finish this year and build from that.

I think you will be seeing alot fewer own goals from him now that Jamie Carragher is not a regular for Liverpool anymore.Myself and my friends were convinced those two had a private bet between them every season to see who would end up top of the OG charts.
