Class vs World Class

People always seem to want to label certain players world class when in fact,at the very top of the game, there is very little difference between the best players (Messi/Ronaldo aside).

Furthermore, these debates always entail fans of one club over-hyping their own players while they downplay the talents of rival teams' players.

I for one would rather Arsenal had 11 class players rather than 4 world class players and 7 average players. World class players are great, but while they can win games on their own, they can't win trophies without the help of the other players around them.

Fabregas and Van Persie both found themselves surrounded by some very average players and realised the effort they were putting in wasn't going to get them anywhere, so they left, and rightly so. They didn't leave for money, neither did Nasri - the money increase was just a bonus.

I won't say that we have 11 class players in our squad, but I will say we now don't have any world class players anymore. Wilshere could be, Diaby could be, Oxlade could be, Koscielny could be, Szczesny could be, even Gibbs could be but at the moment they are just talented players with potential, so lets realise that and just hope they all develop while playing at the Emirates and can get long unhindered stints in the first XI.

When you add Podolski, Cazorla, Vermaelen, Arteta, Mertesacker in to the mix, we have a team that can challenge in every game and mount serious tilts at both domestic cups and maybe even get close in the PL (CL if we get the same luck that Chelsea got last year).

Btw, I would say Sagna is world class when he is playing at 100% but that doesn't change the tone of my article so I will just leave it here as an afterthought in case anyone wants to point it out as a weakness in my argument.

Millner is awful.

TRFC, where did it say in the OP that Podolski was world class? Hes joined arsenal on as his own personal decision. With arsenal tendency to create world class players, I would be surprised if our new boys and a couple of other players become world class in a few seasons time.

so when does a player start becoming world class? in the case of RVP, what year did he become world class or was he already world class even though he didn't play much?

Read only the first comment from him and I knew the guy has no clue of what he is talking about. I decided not to read the second comment because I knew it's not worth it.

sagna is not world class and rvp is border line

As soon as RVP joins them, he becomes world class.
This is why clowns like these cannot be taken seriously.

Sagna is World-class. There isn't many RBs who are better.

Also TRFC what is wrong with you?
