Colchester Utd v Doncaster Rovers

Colchester v Doncaster Rovers Sept 16th 3 pm

After a two week enforced International break Rovers are back in action at the new 10,000 seat Weston Homes Stadium in Colchester, for the first time, their last visit was to the old Layer Road ground.. A game which United won 3-2 thanks to own goals from Sean McDiad and Steve Foster. Rovers goals came from Jonathan Forte and Michael McIndoe.

Colchester have had a poor start to the season with three draws and two losses from the first five games. Rovers are in 14th position with two wins and two losses in four games. Dean Saunders should have a full squad to choose from and may have Iain Hume on the bench again as he aims for full match fitness. Shelton Martis is also now fit and will be pushing Jones and McCombe for a central defense position.

For Colchester, midfielder Jon-Joe O'Toole is expected to return following a groin strain. Also, Anthony Wordsworth who had a suspected broken leg at Brentford,, suffered only bruising and Karl Duguid will have a fitness test before the game.

Colchester Manager John Ward says " We needto win a game and the quicker the better, but if we can stick with our performances and improve a little bit, and not drift off, like we did against Tranmere, that's our best opportunity to do so. We've got to make sure we stick to our beliefs and do what we've been doing over the past two or three years and it will bring success again". " We've hit a spell which is difficult to put your finger on, but we have strikers who don't seem able to score, we have to give them the opportunity.

Dean Saunders says that Colchester is a tough place to go to, and there are no easy games in this division. " We can't go with mindset that we are a Championship club and we will win, we are not and we won't. It looks as though they're in abad position, but they've only lost two and they are at home. They'll be up for it tomorrow. It's credit to Alex, the physio that all the players are fit at the moment, we are avoiding muscle injuries at the minute. We have a small squad, but all quality players with good attitudes who will work hard for Doncaster Rovers.David Syers is the biggest example for the rest, he trains hard every day , and he is getting into the box on the end of things, winning headers in the middle of the park and getting back in his own box to clear the ball.

Head to Head Rovers wins 16. Colchester wins 17 draws 7.

Match Officials : Referee David Phillips ( West Sussex)

Assistants Anthony Coggins and Neil Davis

4th Official Gary Evetts.

Coming back now as mentioned a win is a win 3 points and move up the league. Ref didn't help why do we get shocking refs??? Anyway we probably just deserved it although there constant long ball down mccombes and jones's throat must have given them headaches with the amount they cleared. Colchester are a very poor team on the field and the support?? what support! Bring on tuesday!

Turned radio on, we were 1 up

They started to get on top, then scored

So I turned radio off and waited for the phone to ring at the end of the game.

Don't know if its just me, but, I cant listen to a game of football on the radio..........

No choice when you're far away bud!

Great result to win away from home, I don't care who the opposition is - and if we can win when (by the sounds of it) not playing well, so much the better! We'll have to step it up for the next 2 games though - much tougher propositions! Let's hope we get the good Rovers on Tuesday!

More or less completely missed this one but knew the score. Good win away from home.

At the Leger Mrs Duck and I did OK - broke even on the day. We both thought, as did most others that Camelot was a done deal but Mrs. Duck rather cleverly picked Enckle as her each way choice at 25/1

My moment of glory - a win on the last race with Viking Storm. Could I really back anything else?

Well done to Mrs Duck and of course to you, Fuzzy, for the final race! Let's hope that the red and white hooped Vikings take over where their equine brother left off and storm the league!
