how does that work?

gary cooper today talking to adam pope complained about bates spending money on the ground and not enough on the team,that seems to me to be a fair enough comment (and in my opinion is the issue that divides the fans most,on one side those that think he runs the club prudently and those that want more spent on players) but gary cooper also praises bates by saying 'the chairman has quite rightly kept a good income to wages ratio ' so how does mr.cooper agree with not paying out more in wages and then complain that we dont spend enough on the team? how can bates do both? bigger team squad equals more money spent in wages,maybe gary thinks like many on here and only talks about how much players cost but forgets they need to be paid,cant have it both ways
