We can't go from 6th to 1st - apparantly

I've heard the above repeated a few times now, and it doesn't really make a lot of sense.

Basically if teams starting with the same amount of points as they finished with last season - it is probably correct that you cannot make up the difference in one season.

But that isn't the reality, the reality is that all teams are starting on the same number of points. Its not as though we are on a formula 1 grid looking to make up places, its everyone looking to get the most amount of points from a standing start.

As long as teams are investing where they need to invest, and with the right players compared to others in the league, it is not without merit that a team can challenge where they didn't the season gone.

As far as LFC are concerned we showed what we are capable of under Dalglish, that is the reality as we are continuing with Dalglish.

We have also strengthened the squad, in key areas where we've needed to - i.e a stronger back up keeper, actually having a left winger, more creativity through midfield and better exponent of set pieces.

Its not about individuals either - its how they contribute and get the best out of other players in the team/squad. For example, Stuart Downing could ping crosses in all day at Michael Owen and Peter Crouch - However replace those two with Andy Carroll and Steven Gerrard and you get what I mean, even though one of them is a midfielder.

We can challenge this coming season, and we will do.
