You can tell when we got the 2nd and 3rd goals that it was a huge relief for AVB to finally get the 1st win. I love the guys passion and i have backed him since the begining and will continue to back him until i feel he is doing a terrible job. Reading weren't very good but it's always a huge positive when you go to any place away in the prem and win comfortably 3-1 ( the score flattered Reading) should of been atleast 5-1. I thought Vertonghen looked excellent today and like i keep saying to everyone, we have an absolute class defender there that will keep getting better each game. Dembele and Sandro looked sharp and strong in the centre of midfield and a big well done for Defoe who looked so sharp and deadly, i'm not the biggest fan of having Defoe upfront on his own and i think against a better team it won't work but still excellent from Defoe.....Lazio and QPR next, let's get 2 more wins boys

9 out of 20 shots on target is poor though.

True, but 3 goals from 9 on target sounds a lot better

Sense that AVB may be a statto.
He may do a fair bit of "moneyball" on all this stuff (someone will be getting shooting detention soon ) .

This was a "must win" match for AVB. And his relief at goals 2 & 3 clearly showed. I still think his job is not secure.
Team as a whole played well against a weak side. We should have scored more goals. First half we had over 60% possession and only one goal.
But I do not blame Defoe, he played like Defoe is supposed to play.... shoot on sight.
I do not agree with the criticism of Bale. He played his heart out as the midfield ball carrier. And scored no. 2. Wot more do you want? And he limped off at the end. Might have played injured, dunno.
Think Sandro gives the team a very solid feel, although some think Scotty Parker is a better choice. Not sure on that one.

"I still think his job is not secure."
Hope he thinks so too (if it raises his game) .

I thought the Sandro/Dembele combination was excellent, and given the circumstances of it being an away fixture and recent form there's probably more to come going forward from them.
I'd like to have seen more of Dempsey and Townsend as they were both lively, but certainly can't complain about the team performance

RDBD ...
Its his man to man management that got him into trouble at Chelsea.
Agree Dempsey should have had more field time.

Ted - yep Bale was limping heavily at the end.
