Spoilers!Martinez vs Chavez Jr Post fight.

Wow what a fight.Coming into this fight,its fair to say there was no love lost between both fighters.One a proud Argentinian who has been making waves in boxing,but hasn't really got the praise he deserves,the other is the son of legendary Mexican boxer Julio cesar Chavez ,and who to some people,had been pole vaulted into fame by his last name rather than his talent.

The fight itself was a pretty straight forward one,up until the final round that is.

Chavez started the fight slow,hardly landing or throwing any punches,with Martinez just purely out boxing him with ease, Martinez was throwing 3 punch combos and then moving out,just basically boxing smart.As the rounds went on, Chavez jrs face started to bear some of the battle scars from his lack of activity.Martinez fought most of the fight with his hands down,goading Chavez with smiles and grins,but during the last 3-4 rounds, Chavez started to engage Martinez,and Martinez not one to shy down, duly obliged with shots of his own.
But the fight really came to life in the final rounds,with less than 2 minutes left, Chavez who is the bigger man at 6 ft 1 landed a left hook which dropped Martinez.As Martinez got back up,he was again subjected to shots by Chavez,but the man that Martinez is,he did not attempt to hold him,he went toe to toe.He hit the canvas again did Martinez,but it was a slip,which bought him some time.Enough time to survive the late rally, which had echoes of the great Julio Cesar Chavez's win over Taylor.
Martinez won the fight by Unanimous Decision,and now took back his former belt,the WBC Middleweight title.

Martinez has now solidified himself has one of the best P4P fighters out there,and at the age of 37 hardly looks like he is slowing down,this win now opens the door POSSIBLY,to a fight with Money Mayweather.Which would be Huge.

For Chavez Jr,its back to the drawing board,Yes he will have taken some positives from that last round,But,a rematch would be a waste of time.

Also thought Canelo Alvarez done a good job forcing a stoppage of his fight with Lopez,he also like Martinez has Mayweather has an option,or the much loved Puerto Rican,Miguel Cotto.

Thoughts??????

Cotto would be a good fight too and would have alot of interest and hype. I get the feeling the Martinez is now only interested in super fights against big names so he can rise up the P4P rankings.

Ward v Martinez winner meets Mayweather perhaps

===============

Martinez would struggle at 168lbs against Ward. If he fought Ward, he would get destroyed. He's a small MW and making the jump would be a massive struggle against a fighter as good and as strong as Ward.

Ward isn't going to come down to middleweight to fight him.

Mayweather isn't a huge welter so him fighting the SMW champ in Ward is never going to happen and it's plain daft to suggest it.

Martinez could fight Mayweather at 154lbs, but he's 38 and hasn't fought at that weight for a long time now. This is the only fight with any possibility of getting made.

Yeh i did think the weights might be a issue for all 3 of them tbh mate, hence the " perhaps " would have to be a big compromise somewhere down the line and most likely wouldn't see the best of any of the fighters
