vs Young Boys would be ideal in my opinion.
I think a few of the senior lads should be rested for the United game, but also i want a closer look at some of our quality young players.
Now, before you slate me - this is practically a B "team".
--------------Jones-------------
Kelly--Coates---Wisdom--Enrique
-------------Henderson-----------
--------Suso----------Sahin------
Assadi-------Yesil--------Downing
Firstly - Jones i think played well in pre-season and Reina needs a place on the bench just to put some fire in his belly again.
Wisdom - looked fantastic in his last two u 21 games, a lot of pace, power and promise.
Suso - this lad has to get a chance. I know CM is demanding but with the way Brendan wants us playing it's more about technique than power and that will suit Suso down to the ground.
Sahin - obviously is a good player, but he could do with some minutes under his belt.
Assadi - i'm not sure what to expect from this lad. The reviews are good but then everyone looks good on youtube. However, i like the idea of some flare, it's an area we certainly lack in.
Yesil - i know. It's early doors for the lad, he's 18, but i saw a lot of ability in his debut vs Chelsea u 21s last week, his pace and movement is scary for someone so young. He didn't get the goal his play deserved but was a constant menace, i think he could be a suprise package this season.
Like i said it's just a chance to give our youngsters some experience and see what they are like in the "deep end" so to speak.
What sort of side are you wanting us to play on Thursday guys ?
Experimental side...

Your article rasises a huge question and i am intrigued by the thought of what team BR will select
I dont think we could afford to loose certain players to injury especially with the Utd game looming but i dont persnally think the young lads have what it takes i i may be wrong but European football is something even the older pros need to get to grasp with if they are not use to it - but the young lads could struggle. I just hope that if they do play the younger players that we manage to hold our own as it could do more harm

OP
What subs would you select?

That line up is too risky for me.
Young Boys away is not an easy game, and as the first game of the group we want to get off to a good start, then maybe we can really experiment later in the group stage.
One or two risks maybe, but not 7 or 8 U21's in the side.
Reina
Johnson
Skrtel
Coates
Robinson (if he is fit?), if not then Downing
Sahin
Allen
Shelvey
Assaidi
Borini
Suarez
Subs
Jones
Agger
Wisdom or Sama (whichever Brendan thinks is ahead)
Suso
Sterling
Gerrard
Ngoo, Yesil or Morgan.

If you think we can beat them with that team then you're in for a shock.
They were leading Spurs 3-0 in a game only a couple of years back, if I remember correctly. There are four players we can't afford to lose at the moment and they are Agger, Gerrard, Allen and Suarez. So those four should be rested.
I hope we go with the following:-
-----------------------------------Reina--------------------------------
Kelly--------------Carragher------------Coates--------Enrique
---------------------------------Henderson--------------------------
-------------------------Shelvey-------------Sahin------------------
-----------------Downing----------------------------Assaidi------
------------------------------------Borini------------------------------
Jones
Johnson
Skrtel
Suso
Sterling
Gerrard
Suarez

Don't we have a Next Gen games this week too. I see Wisdom and Yesil playing that game.
