Paul McBride has urged celtic fans to stop singing sectarian, racist and offensive songs.I quoted the terms and words he used and the mods or someone pulled the post, but you all no the songs I mean and sectarian name calling.Songs about an illegal Irish gang were also condemned by McBride.
It is refreshing to hear a member of the celtic family speak openly about their fans sectarianism. For too long bhoys portrayed the Bears as the bad guys, while they were as guilty of nasty songs and actions.
Celts gloated when Uefa and Fare targetted Rangers fans, but now celtic fans will be under the spotlight.McBride has shed light on celtic bigotry and hypocrisy.Sectarianism is not just a Rangers problem or an orange order problem or a Scottish society problem bhoys..............and now your own people admit this fact.
MCBRIDE HIGHLIGHTS CELTIC BIGOTRY

Captain........so you admit celtic fans are sectarian, because the vast majority of celtic fans on these sites deny this reality.
For McBride to point this celtic problem out is worthy of comment, and for you to say it is pointless or boring,is just that.
Go on,you start an interesting debate, big brain.

WAR, i never realised your alter-ego was Rumpole of the Old Bailey!
this isn't the first "Celtic fans are Bigots" article on here today and I'm sure If I look I'll find some "Rangers fans are bigots" articles too, because, guess what, some people can't keep religion, politics and football seperate.
Pointing fingers at each other is futile, I was born in England and grew up outwith the secterian element, as I suspect most children of ex-pats on BOTH SIDES have done. But I also know that the same ones can learn them pretty quick and sing along when they want to because quite a lot of us, me included, have done.
My point is, articles like this are pointless as they go no further than "yeah, but no, but yeah, but, no..." and so on and so on.
I choose not to sing these songs anymore because I'm older and (slightly) wiser and understand that although i've sung them to noise up the opposition I also know they're nothing to do with Football.
Every season more and more fans ON BOTH SIDES choose not to, but we still don't do enough to police our own. ON BOTH SIDES.
I applauded Walter Smiths remarks to the press about this last season, just as I applaud the Paul Mcbride podcast, don't care much for the fella as he isn't my lawyer but these are sentiments that are being expressed by BOTH SIDES but not being heeded BY BOTH SIDES
If you wish to note some scores down then by all means, Celtic have some fans with sectarian views. So do Rangers. And Hearts.
Now, what are we going to do about it?

well played mr mcbride. At last, somebody from the celtic family acknowledge they have an issue. Mcbride has went up in my estimation.
Cdp - celtic fans are continually on here calling gers fans bigots. I dont remember you taking a stance against those articles!

Elite, I don't generally go on the Rangers Board, yesterday I just felt like having a nosey! But I tend to ignore those articles anyway as they're just poor wums and boring point-scoring, so my only real encounters with them is when I'm on the Celtic boards and prefer not to comment on them, But then again, we're all guilty of that....

fair do's cdp.
Some bhoys just always resort to the 'its all rangers fault, celtic dont have a problem'. The problem is, its not wums. They generally believe that.
Maybe mcbrides honest comments will put a stop to it. Doubt it tho.
Just last season, at parkhead when celtic won 3 nil, the stadium rose as 1, belting out 'go home ya h?!s' and 'cheer up walter smith, ya dirty orange b@!!ard'
so celtic do have a problem, even at parkhead.

That is my point Ibrox and part of the reason I began to post as thebluebellsareblue........celtic fans were being openly sectarian in huge numbers while pointing the finger at Rangers.
Captain dilutes the importance of McBride condemning celtic fans use of sectarian words and actions, but many celtic minded bhoys have denied or deflected the hatred coming from the hoops mob.Instead they blame Rangers for the problem alone, but if both sides face facts it will be slightly easier to reduce sectarian bile and violence.
Fair play to you for adopting a more tolerant approach Captain.I am proud to be an Ulster Protestant, but I try to be a decent human first these days.Life is too short to live any other way.

agreed mate. To solve a problem you have to admit you have a problem.
