Matt Kilgallon

Defender exit on cards
Sunderland, 09:45, July 19, 2011

The expected exit of players from the Stadium of light is likely to start this week with the departure of Matt Kilgallon to Birmingham.

The central defender is likely to be one of at least three players moving on this summer with both George McCartney and Nyron Nosworthy also close to the exit door.
Black Cats boss Steve Bruce has been very active spending money during the transfer window but he still needs to offload players who are surplus to requirements and he will now be concentrating on the expected departure for the trio.
Kilgallon was signed from Sheffield United in January 2010 but has failed to make an impact and now Birmingham are thought to be closing in on a move as they look to replace the departed Roger Johnson.
Current Birmingham boss Chris Hughton tried to sign the centre half when he was at Newcastle and looks likely to be more successful this time around.

I read this, but as i stated on another thread, i cant see us spending any money on transfers if they want say a million quid, also they will be on decent wages and thats something else i cant see us paying.
Weve now got an 18yr old kid on the board ?? the plot thickens!! These chinese need to go and soon.

Kilgallon could be good. Not RJ good but a decent replacement and shouldnt cost the earth.

Maybe this could be the guy then...

I was told that CH is after 4-5 players one being Best, another a CM but Guthrie is to expensive at £3M, a Winger but not Routledge and 2 defenders both surplus to requirements from same club.

Now i know we was linked with McCartney 2 weeks ago, but that got me thinking if we are after 2 defenders from same club and we linked with McCartney i wondered maybe is the other Nosworthy as he is a big powerfull player who can play at RB and CB and thus give us good cover.

Maybe Killgallon is instead the other player with McCartney we are looking at.

I did feel we could get McCartney and Nosworthy for £500K plus a Promotion bonus, but i think Killgallon would cost £1M
