A comment was made at the game last night that at the corresponding time last year only one player was in the Brewers team that played yesterday.....that was our player of the season Calvin Zola, what a way we have come!
Testament goes to Gary and his team in making some harsh decisions in getting rid of the deadwood and filling our team with players on the way up not down!
My only issue is our flagging attendances, as a home team we generally only have 1900 with the remainder made up of away supporters it's a shame we can't get our number up to 2500 then we would see a regular 3000 for every home game this in turn could give Gary more options with a higher wage budget.
What a difference a year makes!!!

There is no doubt about it, Gary Rowett has put a stake in the ground and set the bar high! The squad is unrecogniseable from last season.
What is apparant is the determination and will to win that is currently running through the squad. To a man they want to play and play hard. It has been some time since I saw an Albion side play with such determination and passion.
I agree about the attendances, we are never going to have massive crowds, however, if we keep playing and producing results then 'they will come'
There's something good happening at Burton at the moment, lets hope it continues.

If we keep on a roll and win most of our home games and keep nicking the points from our away games i think the the attendances will increase as the armchair fans will take notice. A win at bradford and a big team with a home draw would be great.
It would be nice to see 3000+ at each home game on a Saturday.
Another great win Brewers, keep it coming.

A good article Captain Utd.
I totally agree with everything that has been said so far about the fight, determination and will to win. I look around the pitch and I rate those players.
I have raved about O'Connor, Zander, Calvin and others before so just examing my thoughts from last night;
Tommo - Assured, commands the area and can kick the ball well. Great moment when he performed an intelligent sweeper role 35 yards out.
McCrory - Fantastic player. Intelligent, good passer of the ball, skillful, an atacking option and can cross the ball.
Maghoma - What a transformation! I actually rate the guy highly at present - the first time I have rated him since we signed him. Interested, committed and a constant threat.
Paterson - I doubted it at first but he is a very good player. Whether or not he should play instead of Billy, well, I am not sure. We surely have to accommodate Billy somehow. I was thinking up possible formations as I walked to my car.
What is important is that they keep it going and fulfill their potential. We might be on here after a string of defeats soon asking where it all went wrong. It has happened before, it could happen again.

And a comment on the attendance.
On Saturday I walked up to the ground and from a distance saw a quite sparsely populated Pop Stand terrace. Upon getting in to the ground I was surprised to see that Oxford had brought many fewer than I had expected.
Last night I walked up to the ground. From a distance I saw a much fuller looking Pop Stand terrace. 'That's more like it' I said to myself. When I got in the ground I was pleased to see 'our' other sides looked more full too. I was also surprised to see how many York had brought (well done to any Minstermen reading). As many if not more than Oxford I thought.
The punchline? The 'official' attendance last night was apparently lower than on Saturday.

Win games and the crowds will pick up. Keep this run going and I can see us getting two and half or three thousand at home.
Some good comments Otep re players. I am a huge Billy Kee fan, but as long as Calv and Paterson are playing so well together and scoring goals I say let it be. As soon as one of them has a crap game, in steps Billy!

I have enjoyed reading all of the above posts. When we are on a run like this I enjoy the whole weekend alot more and can't wait for the next match. While I am in the grip of this feel good factor, I want to bring myself down to earth by remembering where we were in December last season. We were on 30+ points, looking comfortable and not anticipating the debacle that was to follow in the next 3 months.
Up to now under GR's management we've revamped the squad, had 2 of the great cup victories of all time, put 6 up a team who humiliated us at their place last season, kept 3 successive clean sheets, had 11 different goal scorers and currently we are on a run of 3 wins on the trot.
Can it get any better? Yes, if we can retain consistancy into the new year.

When we went a goal down versus York I asked myself if we were going to do a "last year" and just fold up the tent. I am so immensely happy that this is NOT a "last year" team at all. Mental toughness, I think, makes a large difference in a team's performance. And we are surely "tougher" in this most important area this year. The Lads are to be congratulated for being honest players of the game. COYB

Nice to see how positive you guys are, what a difference a few wins make.Hold tight though its going to be bumpy on the way with ups and downs but i will say again this is the best squad we have had in the football league. The only downer for me is Holness being injured, hes a better player than alot of people give him credit for and will be missed on Saturday.

Agree Emnez, we are all positive and long may it continue! Also think Marcus is a quality signing, he has been a rock and we will definitely miss him, however, having Stanno coming in is also a massive plus.
Leaving for Troquay this afternoon, staying with friends in Plymouth tonight - can't wait!!
