I would start Caulker against QPR

In my opinion i think Caulker did enough last night to warrant a start with Vertognhen against QPR sunday. I thought not only did he look composed and comfortable but to me he looked like a guy that has been playing in the 1st team for years. He had a goal that was wrongly ruled out so atleast we all know he is good with his head from set pieces. I just thought we looked solid last night against a very good Lazio side. When they did get forward past our midfield they didn't cause the defence no problems apart from 1 or 2 efforts and this was due to the confidence of our keeper Lloris (absolute class act) and our 2 centre backs. I thought we were excellent last night and were robbed by the ref once again. Anyway i would start Lloris, Caulker and Adebayor (if fit) against QPR....

Lloris

Walker Caulker Vertonghen Naughton

Dembele Sandro

Dempsey

Lennon Adebayor Bale

The only thing that worried me about Caulker was his lack of awareness at one point.

Lazio broke down our left side and Caulker moved into the centre of the penalty area, totally oblivious to the player coming in behind him. Needs to work on his awareness.

Probably just nitpicking though...

Don

Sorry to upset the apple cart again, but i thought Caulker was a passenger last night. He never seemed to know where he should stand, he lost his man too many times, he mis-controlled simple passes (even from from Lloris) - i just dont rate the guy (yet).

We kept a clean sheet so i cant moan too much, but Lazio should have scored 2 or 3 to be fair.

He harshly had his goal chalked off, but he is not good enough in my opinion.

Sorry.

Chicken, you're opinion mate and you are entitled to it but i think you are definetly in the minority there mate. I didn't see anything that he did wrong and every defender (even the best ie Terry) have the odd occasion where they miss place a pass, miss time a tackle or standing in the wrong position. I personally think Caulker will be a class player in the future and for me he should be partnered with Vertonghen whilst Kaboul is out

Don,

Again, i do seem to be in the minority on this, and i accept that.

I just think the fact he's young & come through the ranks automatically blinkers fans opinion on him.

He doesn't give me any confidence when he plays, put it that way.

I'm looking at a starting CB partnership of Caulker and Chicken on sunday.

RDBD,

I'm a striker by trade, mate - so dont put me at CB.

Only way the kid will ever learn, is to have you burning his earholes every minute for a whole game.

And as you detest AVB, consider yourself promoted to player/manager.

Or just see how he develops from bit-part playing rather than just chucking him in at a important part of the season, and at desperate times.
