This is from this mornings Guardian; "Tottenham have had 33 shots from outside the penalty area so far this season – more than any other side".
In some ways that is encouraging, however, taking shots from distance is now more likely, especially taking into consideration our fullbacks and midfielders that are all comfortable taking a shot.
Defoe is playing well, but with little support, Bale is our main threat from wide areas, but Defoe is not the man to aim for in the box. And Lennon offers little presence when competing for a cross.
Do we think there's much promise in the current formation? I think it needs time, but we need to surely create more goalmouth chances. And we have to be willing to commit more players forward in support of Defoe.
Dempsey could really be the answer here, but where does he fit in?

Don't read too much into it.
It's just a stat and taken on its own means nothing.
Move on.

This stat after 4 games is as useful as Sky's "last 10 minutes" possession stat.

By bringing this stat to everyones attention, it was more to do with my delight that we're actually willing to take shots from distance, this didn't seem to happen much last season. Against the better teams we will need to create more goalscoring chances a bit closer to goal. I was just wondering what everyone thought about how we might progress, and assist Defoe better.
I was in no way critical, just wondering, tis all.....
