Well done Saints

I did think their managers comments about their season starting against Aston Villa were a bit disrespectful to be honest; he was right though, as much as it pains me to admit it.
Saints got what they deserved. Simple.
We were poor in defence today. Maybe that dodgy booking Lambert got Vlaar didnt help. Probably fair to say I'm very disappointed and clutching at straws though.
Benteke and Bent looked clueless. What happened there?

After supporting the villa for so many years now, I should have learned not to get suckered into false hopes.

I can't see us going down this season however, I think its going to be a bit squeaky bum type thing at times.

I just knew it would be typical villa, breaking a bad losing run of some club or other.

Oh well. Baggies next.

Am shocked at todays performance - yes we have played well the last two games but I didn't expect us to crack so early

The only thing Villa are consistent about is disappointing the fans

It all went wrong at half time when Ireland was replaced. We were cruising in the first half and Lambert made a bad error which hopefully he'll learn from. The defence just fell apart after the first goal. Don't know if City away is exactly what we need now, hell it couldn't be worse than today so bring on the mercs.

This is a poor Villa team, really. I support Villa but I can't get excited by seeing some of the names on the team sheet. Fighting relegation is not what I expected having grown up supporting Villa and seeing us consistently fighting for Europe.

We are a sinking ship I think. And Lambert's signings on the whole have not impressed me one bit to be honest.

Good teams are made, or if you're really rich bought. Saints have had a stable and successful team for 2 seasons. We're trying to build one from the bottom up; give it time. We'll have more days like this, but I trust enough in Lambert to reckon we'll have good ones as well, and be going in the right direction.

I get the impression we didn't quite have the buzz today which we had against Swansea. It happens. And at the moment we depend on playing a high tempo game to get one over the opposition. Ireland going off (I believe he's injured) allowed Saints to come more into the game. Looks like we need a plan B for when Ireland isn't playing. I think we'll get there.

McParland, still think our defence is not too inexperienced?
