Carroll should stay at West Ham

After watching MOTD I can't think of a better team for him to rebuild his career. They even had Sunderland struggling with their crossing and general direct delivery into the penalty box.

After hearing nothing but talk of Tiki Taka and playing like Barca, I still enjoy watching a good old fashioned English style match. Somewhere along the line it got branded hoofball, but when played well it can be a nightmare to play against. I think the old art of crossing accurately and having a big number 9 in the box is turning into a lost art.It also seems to fire up the crowd a bit more. Our new style might explain why the KOP is a bit more subdued this days.

I'm still surprised BR has decided to completely overhaul the way we play and exclude a player who has so much potential. If we are struggling today in the second half I wonder who will come on and make the difference?

I expect big AC will be watching the match with interest.

myhammers, after Sunderland going 1-0 up they parked the bus. tippy and tappy football would not help when opp.teams parked the bus.

Mafia: I'm not referring just to yesterday's game, but to the majority of Allardyce's time as manager of West Ham.
Whether we are trying to break down a stubborn defence or are cruising 3-0, he has only one way of playing.

majority? I disagree. There was an article from Tomkins few days back saying we played less long balls than Tottenham and Liverpool.

So everyone has got it wrong about Sam Allardyce? He is in fact a football purist? Those West Ham fans who sang "We play on the floor" were not paying attention?

At worst, Allardyce is a long-ball merchant. At best, he adopts a direct approach. Of course, most teams will occasionally change tactics according to the needs of a particular match. I'm sure Arsenal have hit a few long balls during certain games. But that doesn't mean they're a long ball team. And I'm sure Bolt on have, at some time in their history, played some lovely stuff.

I don't know why some West Ham fans try to make Allardyce seem like something which he clearly isn't. By keep having to pull up stats after every game to refute the hoofball jibes just adds greater focus and attention to the issue.

I'd much rather talk about what a great club we're going to become when (if) we move to the OS!

I think prior to Fulham game someone asked the same question to Sam Allardyce. He simply said, even he played a passing game like Arsenal for 90 mins that old mark he has got won't go away.

If Sam Allardyce is/was playing/adopting purely long ball game why there weren't any "We play on the floor" in this season?

myhammers,

=======================

That paragraph did make me laugh, i have to say... And i agree with your whole post.

Why are (some) West Ham fans on here fighting the the allegations of the way everyone knows Big Sam plays? And the reason the focus on this style of play has never left Big Sam, is because he's adopted it with every club he's managed - and he isnt going to stop now.

He knows, by the law of averages, if you pump it long often enough, you are likley to get goals. If it works, is it such a bad thing? Well, that depends whether your fans want to get enough points by "the law of averages" or whether you want to try & win at the same time as being entertained & enjoying watching your team play.

Lastly, to the OP....looking at Brendan Rodgers style of play, ie. get the ball out to the wings & whip them in, i am even more surprised BR let AC go. Now i know BR obviously thought someone was coming in (maybe Dempsey, i dont know) but if you're going to use your wing play as much as BR appears to be, then AC will be more use to a team than Saurez or Borini.
