I see that Arsenal have confirmed they are in discussions with Barcelona ref a certain Mr Fabregas.
One of the comments attributed to a senior man at Arsenal had suggested, "if a very good offer came in we would have to consider it."
A very good offer? For one of the best players you have had for quite some time, surely you should be setting the price tag a touch above very good?
Thoughts? and I'm not trying to wind you up, that's reserved for the delusional Scousers and the plastic chavs, aka Chelsea.
So your in dialogue?

40 mil may be lower than what we want but if they offered 40 million i reckon the board would sell

The quote you use is a bit old isn't it? I seems to remember seeing it a week or more ago.
But it's a simple matter - always has been.
If the club that supposedly really, really wants him can stop their skinflint ways and actually pay the going rate for him, they can have him.
But approaching a club that don't have any need to sell with the fairy stories and outright lies that Barca have been habitually using isn't going to get it done.
I don't know anyone who wouldn't be prepared to see the player go, but to suggest a price for him which is lower than that offered for second rate players is insulting, both to the player and the club.
Personally, I'd put a naughty little clause in to any Fabragas sale which states that Barca must pay any and all outstanding credit from previous sales.
I believe they still owe Arsenal millions for Henry and Hleb.
I would also make a point of trying to take any and all of their brightest 16 year olds, every year for the next 20 years, while at the same time refusing to sell any player to them in the future, regardless of the money involved.
But then I bear grudges.....
