Harry Redknapp has went ahead and made Luka Modric captain for tonights game against Orlando Pirates...why?
It must be a sign of desperation to try and make Modric realise hes their most important player, but I think Modric is no fool, it is a clear indication that hes getting desperate to keeping Modric. I'm sure 'Arry could have handled the situation better. Modric is intelligent, and he'll realise what Redknapp is doing.
A sign of desperation?

Maybe he's captain because of his leadership skills

I have to agree, it was a desperate act by Harry to keep Luka.
Terry showed no respect today either!

It's all good keeping hold of him. It's very admirable and everything but is there any need to give him the captaincy armband!?
This is just another example of Harry being out of touch with the Spurs supporters. I can just imagine the older Spurs fans thinking that the historic armband worn by the likes of Danny Blanchflower and Steve Perryman means completely nothing now in this day of age!

In fairness to Terry he was actually misquoted and Sky Sports issued an apology to him and Chelsea FC

Some Chelsea fans really need to lighten up on this whole Spurs/Modric issue.......it's getting obsessive & creepy. Giving Modric the captaincy was no different to when he handed Gallas the armband when we played Arsenal.....probably tongue in cheek and a 2 fingered salute in Roman's direction, anyway, Modric could have said "no I don't want the captaincy" but he didn't, yet Harry is portayed as "desperate", look back on all the threads posted by Chelsea fans about Modric....that's desperation!
