Bobbins - "We will win the title (but) I agree it is more difficult the second year."
To be fair, he has got a lot of experience of winning the EPL twice in a row. Also, after strengthening the squad by keeping Milner and Barry, it's easy to see why they've swept the opposition aside in their first five games, are through to the champs league final already (destroying Real on the way) and have already won the COCup after obliterating the resurgent Villans.
Oh, wait,
Not arrogant, just bitter.

He's showing confidence in his team Siempre, we will see if his words had any effect.

so was he saying he didn't have confidence in his team last year ? He looks knackered to me this season, something is wrong and I don't think anyone knows what it is. I fully expect City , United and Chelsea to be battling it out to the very end in the league, I just think to say "we will win the league" is an odd thing to say at this stage of the season.

The manager setting the standard he expects nothing less.
Last year was different we hadn't won it then.

Its is silly article but it was a very bizarre thing to say by Mancini and the precise opposite of what he was saying in the run in last season.
--------------------
It is in no way a bizarre thing for the manager of the current champions to say. On the contrary, it is what one would expect the manager of the current champions to say, especially so early in the season.
And for the record, it may well have been the opposite of what Mancini said in the run-in, but it isn't the opposite of what Mancini was saying earlier in that season last year.
And that, quite frankly, is understandable. With several games still to go last season, United were in a commanding position, had the title in their own hands, and given the clinical ability that United have displayed down the years of being able to successfully close out seasons from such a predominant position, was a completely understandable position for the manager of an opposition team to express.
As it transpired, United blew it. City capitalised on that, and the rest is history.
Obviously, circumstances fluctuate as any season progresses, and managers (including Mancini) will in all probability change their opinion to reflect that. But it is still early days - winning the title is still in the hands of all the teams who are expected to challenge. So no, it simply is not a bizarre thing to say, irrespective of early season form, and indeed irrespective of what was expressed last season.
What would be a bizarre thing to say, at such an early stage, would be for Mancini to dismiss out of hand the possibility of his team winning the league this season.
And for that reason alone, that renders the OP's article, as others have quite rightly also inferred, completely ridiculous.

doesn't seem to be having the desired effect so far today.
Is this going to be the worst title defence since Leeds United ? Lets hope so.

you could totally understand it if he said "of course we can win it, I think we have the best team and are only 4 points off the the pace" , but to say "we will win it". I don't think I have ever heard Fergie say that. It sounds like misplaced arrogance to me. Best put it down to a lack of full understanding of the English language. By Mancini I mean, not Fergie.

Siempre, Actually City hold the record of worst title holders! Think it was in the 1930's where they won the the League, then were relegated the next season. As far as I know it is the only time it has happened.

You are splittling hairs. Always the last resort of the desperate.
"doesn't seem to be having the desired effect so far today."
You clearly spoke too early.
