Morning everyone. Hope we're doing ok considering our loss yesterday. Before I go any further, I'll say that I didn't attend.
Back when we sacked Megson and appointed Coyle, most fans were extremely happy and thought that having a young, exciting manage in charge could help us push for another European tour. We changed our rather boring style and started playing some football for the first time in a decade. Coyle made some great signings, notably Holden, Sturridge and Wilshere. We were being commended on our style by the BBC, of all people. We were getting noticed. Things were looking good.
Since our loss to Stoke in the semi final our world fell apart. Influential players started dropping like flies, confidence was shot. This is when Coyles job became a lot harder. Right at the beginning if Coyles reign this management lark seemed pretty easy, he hadn't really been challenged. So when this challenge of using squad players to cover injuries and raising confidence arrives, Coyle fails, and has even doing ever since ending in relegation and a run of form fit for back to back relegation candidates. This is where we are now.
Looking back, I think Coyle has had the toughest Bolton Wanderers manager position for a long time. Allardyce had money chucked at him left right and centre, nobody expected nothing from Sammy Lee, but he still had quality players like Anelka. We were already in Europe when Megson came in, again with some quality players. Coyle had average players from the word go. Out of the before named managers, Coule inherited the worst squad, and to make matters worse, we played much better than expected for 6 months. In a way, that fantastic start to his Bolton manager career has been the downfall of Coyle. Fans are expecting is to get back to that level, a level that we now know was a huge overachievement for that time. The reality is, that we were never really going to challenge or Europe. Couple that together with fans high expectations due to the good start and the club running on empty financially, Coyles job has been tough to say the least. I do have some sympathy with him. I don't think he realised how hard and how quickly this job could change for the worse.
As people say though, we need to bounce back, our chairman has set a target of an average of 2 points per game, which we are nowhere near. Very soon, if things don't change, Coyle will be out of this job. He won't walk. I am sure he knows his team isn't performing and that his job is hugely insecure, but he won't walk. Why should he? If Garysde doesn't want him, he should get rid of him.
I fear for Coyle now. A win against Leeds won't paper over the cracks and that is a bad situation to be in.
Having said that, he won't get sacked before the Leeds game unless we have a Juande Ramos to Real Madrid type situation where a firing and hiring switcheroo was almost simultaneous.
There are certain issues that arose during Coyles tenure fecung him to do that and change this, which we could argue the toss about all week but it won't make any difference. His job is still very insecure.
Personally I'm not adverse to change. Something needs to change to stop this awful run and get us challenging or promotion again. Whatever change occurs, I just hope it happens before it's too late.
Heads will roll

Rowbot we were in the relegation zone in November last season and it was tantamount to treason to suggest that last year.

I don't think we will have any problem whatsoever in finding a capable manager to take this job.
We have the best squad in this league by some distance, great set-up, supportive owner, P'ship aspirations & a no lose situation given our current league position.
I would go as far to say that any manager in the C'ship would want this job and others either out of the game or from foreign leagues.

MT, Hope you are well despite our teams pitiful performances. Also I am praying for a Miracle at Medinah but I dont hold out much hope. I think Olazabal is the Owen Coyle of Golf

Depends.
In terms of earnings, he has lined his pockets very nicely indeed.
In terms of career advancement, it's a case of one step forwards, one step backwards.
