For the first time I thought Defoe looked as though he could develop into the lone striker role and the difference between yesterday and previous (especially last season ) was that he mostly received the ball to his feet or into channels rather than in the air against giant centre backs. I am assuming this is down to AVB or I hope it is.

I still feel that once Ade is fit the lone role will be his. Personally i would like to see Ade and Defoe upfront at home against "lesser" teams.

I agree that Adebayor is better suited but the change in style ( on the ground) is more hopeful for Defoe. Hope Ade is fit soon.

in the 2nd half yesterday Defoe annoyed me at times, had the opportunity to hold the ball, take the pressure off a bit, but seems to want to get that 200th goal, wasn't working for the team, it would have been nice to have another option up top, bring on Ade!!

second half yesterday defoe was pathetic. ran about but made greedy, immature decisions in shooting from distance rather than running the ball to the corner.
he also cannot hold the ball up at all when we need an out ball.
i am a defoe fan though and glad we didnt sell him.. his link up play was very good in the first half

I cant really argue with that there were a fair few times when Defoe heading for the corner flag and taking a bit of pressure off us was necessary and unfortunately he refused to take the sensible option.
